Yea, I know I'm not ready for a serious relationship. I don't that is what either of us are wanting. (unlike most of my friends, I have goals beyond getting married). We have a lot of common interests and enjoy each others company, so were just casual dating.

Just a little back story since I don't really post much here. I'm 21, I go to school full time and work parttime. I live with my parents. I haven't believed in the jw religion since I was 16. My parents don't know this. I haven't dated a lot since dating a witness wouldn't be fair to them. I plan on leaving as soon as a graduate from college(either DA or a quick fade).
I've just started dating a non-jw. He knows that i'm a witness. He's curious about learning more. I'm afraid to tell him to come here because non jw are always told to run. I'm not going to convert him, I can't wait to celebrate holidays(I just celebrated my bday for the first time). I've told my sister about him and 2 witness friends who are pretty cool. My question is: am I being fair to him? I haven't told my parents or most of my friends(he knows this). It doesn't seem good to keep a relationship a secret, but I really don't see any other options. Financially i'm not in a position to movie out on my own. I don't want to wait another year and half to date anyone.
My other question is can the elders to anything to me if they find out?(take away privilages)? not that I ever answer, but I know this would really hurt my parents. Has anyone else done this? How has it gone? I know that my parents will find out eventually and I'm willing to face them, I just think its best to wait as long as possible before I tell them.

I must say this was one of the worst watchtowers I've sat through. I can't believe some of the comments I heard.
One sister said that "Womens Liberation is one of the worst things to have happened to this country. You can see how much worse things have gotten since the 60's and many of the problems we have can be traced back to womens lib"
Another sister said "People today have an unnatural view of women, women today want to be treated as equals, and we know that is not how we are made. As Christian women we have to be careful not to hold these worldly views." WTF? At that point I went to the bathroom. Many of the comments yesterday went beyond the article and beyond what the watchtower even teaches, and naturally most of them were made by women.
"Many people in the world would consider a person to be weak if they stayed with an abusive husband, but truly it is a sign of strength. We have heard many examples of husbands coming into the truth because of their wives conduct." I can't stand hearing women being told to stay with abusive husbands. I was so mad by the end of the study.

I was 16 when I started really reading the bible and discovered the jw's don't have the truth. It took me a while to get the courage to look on-line to do more research. I saw all the failed predictions, but it was the 607 587 thing that really got me. It has been 4 long years since then. Right now I'm still in, I'm a sophomore in college. I plan on leaving when I graduate. Sometimes I can't stand the lying. Pretending to knock on people's doors, going to the meetings. I just can't stand the thought of never speaking to any of my friends or family again.

What was your final straw that broke your back in terms of doctrine?
by ukescott inas ex-mormon, my exposure to a different version of the first vision story which was quite different from the offical first vision was my beginning way out of mormonism.
what about you ex-jw's?
what, in terms of wt doctrine, made you realize that the wt is a fraud?.

It was the 607 - 587 thing for me too. 1914 is a very basic jw teaching and if 607 was wrong then 1914 was wrong too. Also the number of failed prophicies, I didn't realize how many there were.

Active JWs, hows KN37 going?
by StillGroggy inhey everybody, i had an interesting time pushing a tract that i don't believe in this weekend.
i had to develop my own method of placing it without having to talk about it, since i fear if i was confronted by someone asking "do you people think you're the only true religion", i might break down and tell the person at the door "no, i don't".
the witness at the door with me would scream in terror, and i would be insta-dfed.

Well I have made up excuses for not going out in service so far. So it hasn't been a problem yet. It probably won't work for the entire campaign so I plan saying I put them in magazines and place magazines. Their encouraging placing magazines on Sat. Of course there will be a corresponding number of tracts in a trash can somewhere. It is hard enough for me to place magazines let alone those tracts. It is far safer to knock than to ring the doorbell. I always knock very softly. I often go many Sats without speaking to anyone. I am surprised no one has noticed yet. I haven't heard anything about how its going in the cong. No stories of persectution or hundreds instantly converting. No one seems to excited.

Womens Right`s are they Wrong?
by dido inwomen today fight for `women`s right`s` but are they doing women any favours?
as far as i can see, they have just made it harder for them.
now they are expected to have the kids, work full time, clean house, cook, babysit, taxi drive, nurse, etc., i think they have done us a disservice, by trying to be `equal` to men in the workplace.

Wow, I was surprised at what I was reading. If you want to stay at home and be a mom, then fine. That is what my mom did. That may be right for some people, but certainly not everyone. Is it so terrible to get equal pay for equal work? To not be the property of some man? To vote? To own property? How has women's rights hurt women? This topic does touch a nerve for me because I get tired of hearing that weaker vessel crap at the meetings. I just can't understand how a woman could feel this way. Whats wrong with women having a choice about what they want to do with their life?

I liked Geordi LaForge and B'Elanna Torres just because I thought there jobs were so cool. I wanted to be an engineer for a long time just because of them. I've never really seen any of TOS episodes, I've seen a few of the movies, I guess it was before my time. I dont really have a favorite there. I always like Dr. Bashir on DS9.
