Jehovah's Witnesses Rebuttal to the U.N.-DPI NGO Affair
by Kenneson ini don't know if this was discussed before; i don't recall seeing this site until today when someone brought it to my attention.
how would you answer the jehovah's witness comments (especially the one comparing the library card to a white house press pass)?

Church Fathers Purposely Lied about Jesus
by gumby injosephus as most know, was a jewish/roman 1st century historian.
he was well respected by the roman community and christians were zealous readers of his works.. he is one person christians use as a solid basis for proof of jesus earthly existence.
here is a quote that is used by some christians who strongly believe these words came from the hand of josephus himself,"now, there was about this time, jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man, for he was a doer of wonderful works, a teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure.

How interesting...there are more writings on Jesus than there are on Plato, Socrates, Bhudda, and Genghis Kahn. THe writings by any historians examination are also more valid given the time and consistency of their writings.
Yet no one denies the existence of these other historical people. Yet no one else has had more of an impact on the world......Hmm...some people just will do anything to NOT believe.
Did Peter exist? Did Paul exist? Did any of the apostles exist? Or are they all just made up peoples too?
You've got a lot of balls to be crucified upside down for someone that doesn't exist...but of course that's just a fable too, right? Fables gave way to fables until people were willing to be burned alive and torn apart by lions for them, right?
I know you REALLY don't want to believe gumster..but c'mon, let's be a bit reasonable. -

I think I did something very "sick" and embarassing
by kristyann inokay... so i am super embarassed once again.
this time what happened is too embarassing to share, i think.
most people would probably tell me i am gross, too, and most of you would probably not even want to hear it so i guess that i am better off not sharing it here.

i honestly don't think that would be their reaction. If you were my guest I'd feel bad for you and I'd probably even call you to break the ice about it if you leaked a little... If anyone is annoyed by this...then their just idiots... DOn't feel bad. I've had similar situations happen like this with other girls I know... And for some reason...is it just me? or am I the only one that's not disgusted by it?

Re: What do you do for a living?
by MARTINLEYSHON inas many of you are aware being brought up in the organisation, there was a general directive from the wt that secular education was good, but not encouraged as far as university and further education was concerned.
many witnesses left school in the 70s with no formal qualifications.
my question therefore is 2 fold.. 1. what would you have liked to become as far as your career is concerned?.

How can they explain THIS!!!!!???!!!
by Lady Liberty incheck out jeremiah 52:30 in the new world translation, it says:.
29 in the eighteenth year of nebuchadrez zar, from jerusalem there were eight hundred and thirty-two souls.. 30 in the twenty-third year of nebuchadrez zar, nebu zarad an the chief of the bodyguard took jews into exile, seven hundred and forty-five souls.. all the souls were four thousand and six hundred.. what this shows is the societys teaching that jerusalem was desolate, is not supported by scripture.
it was not literal.

At a crossroads, need advice
by doinmypart inover the last few years i have been trying unsucessfully to get my wife out of the org.
we've had a lot of ups & downs, arguments, and miserable times.
well, my wife has finally told me that she will respect my decision to no longer be a jw, and i can also do what i feel is best for our children in this respect.

I think it would be a good idea to keep up with your Bible reading on your own. Show her that you are still spritually connected to God in a personal way and not through the organization as a mediator.

I found this to be a poorly written article with many assumptions and assertions. I found the first 3 paragraphs to be complete fluff. If you're going to make claims about the authorship of the Gospels, back it up.
The inconsistency with the Son of Man and Son of God comment is interesting as well. Son of man or like man should be translated human being but Son of God translates that he is only God-like and not God. This is a contradiction of the definition by your own terms. They are applying rules where they like to apply them and not across the board. This takes the exception to the rule when it is seen as fitting.
This is Watchtower-style reasoning...reaching for answers to prove things you already want to believe.
In addition, the claim that no one thought Jesus was supernatural until the Council of Nicea is utterly false. Anyone can read the writings of the Ante-Nicene Fathers in the first century and see that Jesus was seen clearly as a diety and was even claimed to be the one speaking to Moses through the burning bush.
