"Because without 607 you don't have 1914!; And without 1914 you don't have 1919!With out 1919;you don't have the whole authority structure that is so vital for this organization!; Without it the whole thing crumbles!"
Please educate this wordly pagan. I know the deal with 607 and 1914, but what is the importance of 1919 to the structure of the organization????

Just got a knock at the door...yup you guessed it
by Lady Liberty inwell it wasn't the long awaited visit we have been looking for, but i guess they are still working on it!
my husband and i have been waiting for over 5 weeks for a reply back from the elders as to the date discrepancy of 607 (between the watchtower references and the appendix.
)we blew them away when they were here, and said they would go do the research...until today we have heard nothing from anyone.

XXJW's...Dem's or Rep's??? Why?
by upside/down inwhat do you think xxjw's tend to become politically in the usa?
the phrase from the frying pan into the fire seems appropriate.
i'm not an anarchist...but i refuse to trade religious masters for political ones... but some enjoy exercises in futility...just look at the die hard dubbies.. it seems that the borg mentality tends to produce more dem's (or they just talk louder?

Whoever will lower my taxes and lessen the goverment's power, I'm for them. Republicans seem to stand for that, but I think both parties have become the same. They are Repulicats and Demicans. With campaign reform, you are forced to vote for the rich, plain and simple.

What does Acts 15 mean, people "called by my name"? Help needed!
by jwfacts inis this referring to jehovah or jesus?
i am in discussion with someone and need an answer that would satisfy a thick skulled jw.. in the nwt it says .
(acts 15:15-18) 15 and with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written, 16 after these things i shall return and rebuild the booth of david that is fallen down; and i shall rebuild its ruins and erect it again, 17 in order that those who remain of the men may earnestly seek jehovah, together with people of all the nations, people who are called by my name, says jehovah, who is doing these things, 18 known from of old.

I couldn't help but notice the wording: "After these things I shall return"
Isn't Jesus the one returning? -

How much does it cost to be a JW
by osmosis inok the story i get from my jw relatives is that borg "isn't making money off them", but that never sat well with me.
i've always wondered how much money she contributed to the borg.. since i don't have the nerve to ask them, and they probably won't tell me the "truth" if i do, i'm asking you folks.. how much money does the average jw contribute to the cause?
how much do those silly magazines cost anyway?

i often wondered to where the money comes from. Call me an ignorant-never-been a JW, but it seems that they are giving these mags out for free. Where does the income come from? From what I can tell, it's from congregation donations and I am assuming the books that are published are bought by the members of the congregation. But it looks like they've been resorting to selling real estate though I've seen they own a hefty amount of stocks.

by schne_belly inhere is a letter to the editor that will be appearing in the saturday edition of our local paper.
very few people are aware of the beliefs of jehovah's witnesses.
there are several reasons for that.

UBMs - why do we love JWs??
by Super_Becka ini think there's been a thread on this before, but i figured i'd ask again.. for all of the ubms out there, why is it that we love witnesses??
what is it about them that we find so attractive??
why are we putting ourselves through this mess when we know full-well that there are lots of non-jws out there who would be better for us??.

Hey Becka, I hope so.. I didn't know she was a witness until 4 months in. It's weird, we split over faith, and though it's not something in my favor..I actually admire her for it. I definitely want a girl who puts her faith first. It's just another admireable quality to me. It just pains me that the faith she is leaving me for is B.S! To know your relationship is ending over a great lie..it's awful, it's frustrating, tragic and makes me angry. But I have no anger towards her. She continued being the most beautiful and admireable person in the world to me.

not sure what UBMs are.. but I'm a non-witness who is head over heels in love for a girl eventhough we've been broken up for 3 months. I think a lot of it has to do with finding a girl with a good moral sense. I remember before I knew her religious affiliation, I was attracted to the fact that she was gorgeous and didn't need to show it off. She dressed conservatively and that was a real turn on for me. She was very humble and down to earth. She was pretty calm, not arguementative, and had good conflict management skills. We got along great. She didn't party or drink too much, didn't smoke had no tatoos and after you see what's out there, it's a breath of fresh air. I know I'm torturing myself here....but I don't know what else to do. Religion was the only issue.

Do they themselves believe?
by Kristofer insometimes i wonder, with the number of letters that the wt receives refuting doctrine & practices, does the gb really buy what they put out?
or are they just pushing literature and living off the collections from congregations.
i would think that if i received overwhelming evidence of the faultiness of my religion, i'd be forced by my own conscience to change or speak up or make a difference.

im in love with a Jehovah's Witness
by saddler ini've fallen in love with a jehovah's witness and i know she feels the same way about me but the problem is that im a methodist and cant find it in me to give up my faith and become a jehovah's witness as i would not expect her to give up her faith and it is driving us both crazy.
i've known this lovely lady for the past 8 years and have only now told her how i feel and every second im away from her im thinking of her wanting to be with her.
so im asking people who might know or be able to help

wow, our situations are almost identical. However, mine just ended and I'm still hanging on. I thought perhaps we could come to an agreement about child-raising but in the end, she chose her faith. She said her love for Jehovah is greater than her love for me. I think she did the admireable thing. It just pains me that while she is doing the right thing in her own heart and mind, it's all a farse!
