I believe this generation change was done to cover the difficulty they were getting into with the 1935 cut-off date, whereby anyone added after that date would be replacements for unfaithful “anointed.” This change, therefore, allows additional new ones to the 14400 roster, since the complete number of “anointed” is added progressively until the great tribulation. Otherwise, they would have to admit that tens of thousands of “anointed” were unfaithful from 1935 onward to justify all the new memorial partakers each year. Finally, by attaching the generation to the “anointed” as a class, they justify the authority of the “anointed” (as represented by the mystical “slave class” and GB), because all the new GB members were born after 1935!

WT last week 'This Generation"
by bobld ini have a question for leolaia.you did an excellent review of last weeks wt study article i appreciated it q13/14.
in the paragragh ""as a class, these anointed ones make up the modern-day "generation" of comtemporaries that will not pass away "until all these things occur" "" see footnote.. my question...if the anointed.ie 144,000 make up a generation of comtemporaries.
would they not be part of a generation say in the 1st century, the 5th century,10th century.15th century 18th century,19th century(1914) providing the proper food at the proper time.if that is so than how can the gb say this generation(anointed ones)will not pass away and that we are living "in the conclusion of the system of things"?

CONFIRMED Book Study amalgamated with the TMS and SM
by yesidid in.
old timers on the board may remember that i was the first to mention the november 06 blood insert in the km.. http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/121104/1.ashx.
the same very, very reliable source has confirmed that the book study will be amalgamated with the tms and sm.. this same source recently had a long and private conversation with a gb member.

I would be very surprised if they did this, but nothing would shock me now. They have follows that go to the KH with the same addiction of people on a heroin fix! Since the “book study” attendance is on a decline, I suppose this would be an easy way to deal with this problem. Therefore, the “service meeting” could be reduced to 10 minutes, and the “book study” will be, let’s say, 35 minutes. This would be my guess. Of course, nothing is lost since all prophesies have their “grand fulfillment” in 1918-1919!

Another egregious mistranslation in the NWT
by sir82 inoh the fun you can have with an interlinear.... 1 corinthians 7:36:38 in the new world translation:.
"but if anyone thinks he is behaving improperly toward his virginity, if that is past the bloom of youth, and this is the way it should take place, let him do what he wants; he does not sin.
let them marry.

It is very interesting to read a number of translations of this passage. Each one is a little different and some stranger than the NWT. One thing we should keep in mind is that marriages (for young couples) were mostly prearranged. In addition, the culture was far different from ours, and women needed to marry for their own prosperity and welfare. In any case, we need to keep in mind that the whole subject matter is Paul’s “opinion” as he frequently states (see 1 Cor. 7:26, 7:40).

College problems for daughter
by Stopthem ini need electronic copies of anything in the watchtower or anything else speaking against college and higher education, preferably from the october 15 2005 wt and onward.
my bright, intelligent 17-year-old daughter just informed me that she's decided against going to college because of all the garbage her kingdumb hall has told her.
her mother started up going to jw about 4 years ago, and i guess i wasn't watching what they were doing to my daughter closely enough (but then, they don't want you to).

Stopthem,
Welcome to JWD!
Your situation with your daughter is going to be difficult to deal with and I’m not sure what to tell you, however, here are some suggestions:
(1) Ask your daughter if she realizes that the policy about college has changed back to an earlier period. About 15 (circa) years ago they relaxed their stand on higher education and much of the literature for a period of about 10 years said it was a conscience matter! Then with the new “governing body” members came a recent return to the hardliner stand. So which is the correct position? The current hardliner stand or the previous one of a few years ago that said it was a conscience matter?
(2) Is a person “sinning” if they seek higher education? If not, then would it then be a conscience matter to attend college? ( JW’s “disfellowship” those that practice “sin!” Therefore, can a person be “disfellowshiped” or “publicly reproved” for attending college? The answer is a flat NO!)
(3) Is your daughter planning to “pioneer” after graduation from High School? Many youths really don’t want to do that either! Yet, that is what they want youths to do!Wish you the best!

Hello everybody
by JulieM inhi everybody, my name is julie, and this is my first post.. i'm a third generation jw, or at least i was until a two weeks ago, when i was announced as no longer a jw.
i'm really happy about that, ecstatic in fact, although i'd been a jw all my life, and i'm 37 now.
i could have disassociated like my friends, but i couldn't be bothered to play their chikdish game, so i let them do it for me.

Welcome JulieM! Who knows what got you kicked-out. The sad part is that they could have fabricated everything and painted you in an ugly picture, and created an entire fiction! Have you tried to keep some kind of spirituality? I’m just a little curious.
Welcome to this board!

Was There Any Watchtower Interpretation That You Never Quite Understood?
by minimus ini knew what the watchtower taught regarding the "faithful & discreet slave class" but how they could ever suggest that "domestics" were "individual members" of the anointed that were given food to the other anointed ones, yet they specifically were not members of the governing body, but the governing body represented the group that would take the lead in feeding others, was beyond me!
the whole interpretation of the fds doctrine is ridiculous!.
were there certain things that puzzled you as to how the watchtower could come up with a particular view?

Why is Talking to a Witness so Hard?
by Perry inhere's my take for one of the reasons: jw's perceive anyone who asks the wrong questions as a hater of jehovah and a persecuter.
they think jesus had them in mind here: .
john 17: 14. i have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as i am not of the world.
-

Perry,
I would add that they not only like to feel hated, but they love to hate! This is what a cult does! It teaches hatred for anything and everything not supporting the cult! To me it's just another hate club!

A rhetorical analysis of the Sept. KM Question Box
by Leolaia insome have pursued an independent group study of biblical hebrew and greek so as to analyze the accuracy of the new world translation.
they have also held conferences and produced publications to present their findings and to supplement what is provided at our christian meetings and through our literature.. throughout the earth, jehovah's people are receiving ample spiritual instruction and encouragement at congregation meetings, assemblies, and conventions, as well as through the publications of jehovah's organization.
rather, the claim is implicit.

Leolaia,
You’re too funny! Yep, when I was a dub, I was drowning in the “deep” manure of WT “thinking” as I “explored” the more advanced “provisions” of the “slave!” Yes, I did get “filled” with something, but it wasn’t “accurate knowledge!” Only mental diarrhea and vomiting resulted from ingesting their “spiritual provisions!” Yes, they do have some kind of “spirit” influence, but it appears not to be very “holy!”
Thanks for the chuckle!
