This brings to mind the movie. Shawshank Redemption. Tim Robbins plays the character Andy dufre(sp?) who wrote letters once per week to a government agency in an attempt to get funding for a prison library of which he was an inmate. They finally responded after a few years and gave him a nominal amount of money hoping to close the matter of funding his library.
His response? He proceeded to write two letters per week.

We Are Dying!
by WeAreDying-Ophelia inthis is my first post and might be my only post, not sure.
i've chosen to "come out" for a moment just to talk about the 30 minute change in the public talk on sundays.
my father and brother are both elders, this change was a blow to them they enjoy giving encouraging public talks to the friends.

Write down your feelings We love you so much!
This cult is too legalistic for anyone to put their opinion or feelings in writing.
Stay the course my friend. They do love you, but are misguided and attempting to guilt you into their agenda. Follow their advice about goals, just make sure they are your goals(spiritual or otherwise) and not theirs.

Returning to "the truth" after DAing
by exwitless inno, i'm not returning to da troof, in case i scared anyone.
but a recent thread got me thinking about this: i wonder how many people who da actually return and get reinstated, versus how many who were df'd get reinstated.
you'd think if you da'd, there's no way you'd go back.

To the best of my knowledge, I personally know of only two people that sent in letters of disassocation. They are both still out.

Another 'Letter to the Editor' published.... hoorah!
by AK - Jeff inthey ran it precisely as written [i believe, though i have not checked it word for word].
in seeker4's original thread he suggested that the catholic settlements could be used as basis for such a letter;.

I like how you briefly mention how easy it is for someone to access this info on the internet, while in the privacy of their own home.
That was a very nice touch, to possibly get a 'thinking' j-dub to put away their fears and research the reality of this cult.
I'm sure you specifically mentioned it for that very reason.

Without JWD I wouldn't be wondering how nvr finds the time to post 32 times a day.

Young Couple
by watson inyoung couple on their way to get married, a young catholic couple was involved in a fatal car accident.
the couple found themselves sitting outside the pearly gates waiting for st. peter to process them into heaven.
while waiting, they began to wonder: could we possibly get married in heaven?

The elders were there to help make sure Margaret would die
by Gopher inanother watchtower hospital liaison committee comes through and "protects" one of their members from possibly/probably extending their life via a blood transfusion.. click here to read the original story online.. .
jehovahs accused over gran's death.

Gopher:
Many JW's have secretly taken transfusions and lived on (but didn't tell). That must be why they formed these Hospital Liasion Committees in the first place, to ensure JW obedience (despite what they say otherwise). Paul Gillies didn't and wouldn't admit that if Margaret had taken this transfusion and lived, her elders would have announced at one of the next meetings that Margaret was no longer one of JW's.
I agree,
If it were truly a personal decision as they say, then there is no reason at all to have the elders(specifically trained for pushing the blood doctrine) to be present at the hospital.
There presence alone is pressure at it's highest level. The j-dub can either refuse blood, or automatically have their ass kicked out of the congregation. Most j-dubs would rather face death than lose all of their lifelong friends and family. Pressure? nah, none at all!

Kingdumb Hall Smell
by Wordly Andre inever notice all the kingdumb halls smell the same, like new books or something.
i haven't been inside a kingdumb hall since a funeral i went to a couple years ago, but right when i walked in, it was the same smell.
what got me thinking about this is i have a new book here, smells like kingdumb hall, but i guess what do you expect from a "religion" sorry publishing company, to smell like.

Gary is right. If you ever attended a congregation in a small town such as in the dakotas, or in my case Minnesota, you would see that a lot of the congregation members did not always have good personal hygiene. That usually translated into stinky butts that would create stinky chairs.
