Why not give Dan credit for figuring things out on his own and deciding what to do about it. He's a JW, not a child.

Are You Raising An Introvert?
by darth frosty inits not easy being an introvert in an extrovert worldespecially when youre a kid.
it is even more difficult if none of the adults in the kids life recognize that the child is an introvert.
this doesnt happen only when the childs parents are extroverts, but also with introverted parents who have never understood their own introverted nature.. .

Your Age at Baptism (into JWs, not Catholics or Baptists - duh)
by undercover inleavingwt mentioned on another thread the age of his wife when she was baptized.
she was a child.
how can you expect a child to make such a decision?.

18 I should have known better at that age.

So an elder stopped by today...
by Igot2bme ini got a visit from an elder today and he brought over an invitation to the memorial, i excepted it and he said he wanted to come over for a shepherding call.
i told him monday would work for me.

After you cancel, it would probably be a good idea to go out somewhere on monday. See a movie or something. Despite the cancellation, those sneaky bastards may still stop by on monday and see if they can catch you at home. I'd hate to see you react like a 'deer in the headlights' again.

Sincerest apologies from Terra Incognita
by Terra Incognita inmy sincerest apologies to anyone and everyone on this forum who read my first two threads.. i guess i started posting at a bad time in my life.
not too thoughtful of me but not insincere.
i have always been a little lacking in the social graces department partly because of my jw upbringing.

Increase in demon activity?
by Igot2bme inwhen i first started studying i was told that i would notice that the demons would try to stop me from recieving accurate bible knowledge.
well i never really witnessed anything unusual like objects flying through the air, bleeding walls, increased nightmares or something of that nature.
almost all the people that i know who have become baptized have a story or two about this having happened to them.

I would pay big money to see a walking, talking, demonic smurf, piss on a bible, rip out someone's eyeballs and then walk out of a meeting at a kingdumb hall.
Until then, I have this video. Jump to 5:00 if you only want to see the smurf.

I wouldn't have been that polite either. I would have pointed out to them that despite saying that they missed me(and not making any real effort to socialize with or call me), the real and most likely only reason they stopped by: was to take a crap in my toilet.

Lost Legitimate Opportunities For Love
by PublishingCult inwhen you were in the organization of jehovah's witnesses, did you shun legitimate courtship attempts from "worldly" men or women who were otherwise very desirable and suitable because they were non-believers?
.
did you fancy them as well, but tried to get them to study and come into the organization in order to justify the relationship?.

This is a sore spot for me. When I was younger I had so many missed opportunities for dating non witnesses. In some situations I didn't realize I was being hit on until after that fact as I was quite naive. Other situations I was able to see the opportunity, but I rebuffed the flirting or sexual advances because of my jw indoctrination.
I never gave any thought to trying to convert someone so that I could justify a relationship.
