i find the concept of taking select warnings of the medical and science world, to disfellowship members, and ignoring others ... all the more interesting as i think about it.

heart desease and heart related deaths are often linked to and not exclusive to; obesity, high cholesterol, fatty foods, not exercising, high stress, etc.. with this in mind, i dare someone to call an elder and report that they saw one of the local witnesses eating at mcdonalds, even though the doctor warned them it could kill them.

I try to be a compassionate person. Don't knock of Dfed too harshly. I'm guessing he has a lot of internal strife, and doesn't need his feet held to the fire too often if he makes silly claims. He'll get "it" figured out in his own time.

That's stupid. I and a few other daring JWs used to climb under large bridges with 4-500 ft. drops at Letchworth St, park some 60-80 miles SE of Buffalo and never got hurt. So they slipped and died. Lots of people do stupid things that get them hurt or killed.
At least they got their ticket into Paradise.

I've also trudged through Jesus Christ - Sun of God and a few other books attempting to place the Christ/Messiah/Savior Myth identical to Jesus as being borrowed from all these other mystic religions. Ho hum. It's fun to read, I suppose, if you feel you have something to prove. Right now, I usually smile at people that want to argue with me and say "I have to go feed my cats."

I've read the books written by Wells, alluded to by Leolaia. My buddy who's as interested if not more about early xtianity and origins of such belef systems has The Jesus Mysteries but I haven't bothered to ask to borrow it. Instead I've asked to borrow his three Chuck Klosterman books which were dar more entertaining.
