Just do it. So many of us when at your age threw so much of our lives away by getting married, pioneering, being a slave to the Watchtower and living on the advice of window cleaners and 2500 year old goat herders. Pursue your education, find love, progress towards your career. I was 25 before I finally woke up and quit JWism and YOU CAN DO IT. All it takes is some resolve, a few friends, and a little work. For god's sakes woman, DO IT. And be cheerful about it. So many of us didn't get that opportunity. You have it. Take it, run with it, don't look back. The choice is all yours.

DRUG INDUCED DECISIONS...not such a good thing.......

Hi Billygoat
When people really start looking at addictions as diseases instead of a selfishness then perhaps there will be a change in the system. An addiction is an addiction.
I won't argue with that popular idea of labeling addiction as a disease. All I know is, usually when a disease is contracted, a person didn't have much choice. I chose to put the alcohol down my throat and then get behind the wheel. Had I hurt somebody, I couldn't conscientiously say "oh but the disease made me do it."

The 1914 Doctrine and The Threat of the Egibi Business Tablets
by VM44 incould the watchtower and the jehovah's witnesses survive the discarding of their 1914 doctrine?
the doctrine that in 1914 the end of the gentile times took place, jesus took up rule in heaven.
for some reason the jws think the outbreak of world war i in 1914 is proof their prophetic calculations were correct.

I just bothered to read this thread and it's El Oh El worthy. Scholar, when is Dave Letterman booking you for his show?
This is such a complicated issue, and the year Nebuchadnezzar blinded and killed Zedekiah, putting a temporary end to the davidic throneship and beginning the times of the nations is nothing jesus taught, paul taught, peter taught, or anybody else but nelson barbour taught, with some dating refinements made by f.w. franz. Hardly any JW today besides scholar, milton henschel and rolf furuli could explain it today.
Scholar, surely you have other hobbies. Tell me, what is your native tongue and what might be a synonym for "celebrated"?

Quentin, I like some of those songs. But I agree with Love Shack. Horrible song.

Hiya Eddie,
Add to that the fact that many brothers, MSs and elders have responsibilities before and after meetings, so their time for yakking is limited as well.
Speaking of yakking, gimme a call sometime soon.
edit: congregational picnics became "discouraged" around 1988 or so. In the early 80s we'd have a couple of them every summer, 150 or 200 Witnesses invading a state park, playing softball (my dad was always the pitcher, that's how popular he used to be), eating hundreds of pounds of animal flesh and drinking copious amounts of Genesee beer. Do they still exist in California?

No one seems to let anyone that close.... the friendships are pretty superficial. After all, how can you share your feelings with someone who might report you to the elders?
That's why one of my best friends for over 25 years quit and is technically inactive, and "associates" all he wants, but totally lives a worldly lifestyle, and travels a lot. He can be himself with worldly people, and with me of course.

I haven't read the other comments yet, but the original post is something I never considered before, but thinking about it, it's so true. How often were you asked, "How you doin'?" and never even got a chance to answer? Or - my pet peeve and one caty also had happen to her all the time - how often were your conversations with somebody completely interrupted by someone who didn't even say "excuse me" but just butted in and basically left you standing there holding your dick? Good post, truthseeker.

I think I'm liked because I try to be honest about myself and my faults, and I'm respected because I am decently intelligent and can add some thoughtful points to certain threads.
Plus, I really love it when I get a PM from another veteran of the exJW online community and they say something like "Hey Cyg, remember me from H2O? How the hell are ya?"
edited to add: Simon Green definitely doesn't like me, and since my most recent deletion from the board last month I'm still stuck at 25 replies a day, which sucks, I miss my 75. A lonely disabled guy with tons of time and guts to spill like me could use more than 1 new topic and 25 replies.
