What XMas Present Would You Like This Year???
by minimus inone thing that jws do, whether they were "strong in the truth" or not is accept presents.
even if they don't "celebrate" thanksgiving, they'd still take the turkey from the employer.
if someone sent out a birthday gift or christmas present, a witness would still take but never givein return.

DOES ANYONE STILL NOT CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS???
by chuckyy injust wondering if anyone still does not celebrate xmas since leaving jws.....or like me do you think"to hell with it", and join in the festivities.
if you do celebrate it, do you still have pangs of guilt for celebrating this "pagan" festival???.
chukky.

don't celebrate it. Why should I? It has no meaning for me and I don't have any peer pressure to do so. I choose not to. At this point I don't make an issue of it with people, live and let live.
I feel it... For me, I participated, but never celebrated up until about 3 x-mas's ago.... It's not the holiday itself, it's the post x-mas blues/let down... I mean, I would get myself all hyped, and then afterwards, I would be very depressed, cause i would see the relationship my friends had with their parents, blah, blah, blah...
I also take issue with the commercialism... I mean if it was all about "joy to the World" and "Peace", i might be down with it... if everyone spent the money they did on trees, lights, presents, wrapping paper, gas, etc... and the time that it takes to put it together... and devoted it to world peace, blah, blah, blah.. it might actually be a nice thing to "celebrate"
I guess in part, if i were to participate again i'd rather spend my christmas day working in a kitchen that helps feed the under privlaged, or something like that...
Hope that makes sense...
PEACE, Mike

If you could be a Bible character....
by Fleshybirdfodder ini'd be babylon the great.
always looked like she was having a good time seducing kings of the earth and getting hammered off of holy peoples' blood whilst bronco riding that multiheaded, horned furry cat thing.

If we were in Bible times, I would be stoned...(by my family)
by megsmomma ini was just researching some things and saw an article scan from 4-15-88 watchtower.
it talks of an unrepentant "wrongdoes", like a son who was a drunkard and glutton, and if he was unrepentant when brought before the judges, his parents would have a part in executing him.
my mom had said to me last time she was here..."it's a good thing we are not in bible times, you would be stoned!

My mom had said to me last time she was here..."It's a good thing we are not in Bible times, you would be stoned!"(with hatred and sarcasm in her voice)
My Parents quit saying this to me.... every time they would say it, I would look dad/mom straight in the eyes and say something like, "yeah, I wish we were in bible times, cause i like getting stoned!"
PEACE, Mike

Laptop Advice
by Mysterious ini was hoping to get some feedback from those of you that have laptops.
i know what i need primarily in terms of system specs so i am more interested in feedback regarding brands.
if you have a laptop i would be interested to know the brand, whether you bought it new or used, how long the warranty was, if you had any issues with it during or after the warranty (and whether these resulted in you having to take it in or send it away for repairs), if you would buy it again, if you recommend the brand on the whole.. i am currently leaning towards toshiba having met a few people that had bad experiences with dell.

whatever brand you get.... just make sure that it has an "Intel" processor, not some off brand processor....
Mine is a, HP Pavilion dv5000, with an Intel Centrino Duo processor... bought it new... Love it
as a side note, i'm also accessing the web, with a Verision wireless modem... internet, anywhere anytime... That rocks too!
