As a rule of thumb allow at least a year to pass before making commitments to other groups. Time is necessary to heal and also for personal evaluation to take place to know what direction your life should take. The trauma of leaving the Watchtower Society is considerable, but also leads to rapid learning of who you really are.

Well done JW. Since leaving I am starting to find out who I really am. Finding and making new friends has helped tremendously. This board has been a God send. I just take one day at a time. Staying in the moment is my way of living now. What happens, happens. Enjoy the moment and make the best out of it.

: (started grade school... heard new stuff) joan jett & the blackhearts, & (can't remember the artist but the song was:) pac-man fever... and so on... 9 - 10 y.o.

Born in 1959 grew up on Beatles, Stones etc.

In the 70's listened to Top 40 Elton John, Stylistics etc.

In the 80's started listening to Oldies stations for the 60's and 70's again.

In the 90's more of the same

Here in the 21st Century, still listening to the Oldies stations.

Guess I'm stuck in the 60's and 70's OH WELL.

What to believe in?

i've seen that question pop up here on jwd in one form or another over the past few years and it's always had me mentally juggling whether to indulge in chrisitanity (the bible), churches, agnosticism, new age crapola or atheism or some other form of religious hype.......before today.. for some reason, i've chosen just today to believe in myself.

i don't hide from myself i know what i'm capable of and how to do all of which i am capable and am willing to do.

i'm also dependable and if i don't have an answer for a question that i need the answer to, i do some research and find out the facts.

I still haven't joined any religion, nor do I see myself doing so anytime soon either. I guess I just take one day at a time for right now. I try to stay in the moment. Enjoy the moment and make the best out of it. What happens, happens.

Top ten issues to prove that JW's do not have "the truth"

i am trying to compile a list of proof's, issues, lies, etc that prove that the wts is not jehovah's channel.

First of all I enjoy all of the posts so far. AChristian I saved your post, well done.

Just to add what made me finally research the Org. It was the Mexico/Malawi issue. The double standard used in this issue was too much for me to take. People lost their farms/families/lives and spent who knows how many yrs in jail is just a shame. I had asked 3 different people to research this topic and none of them got back to me. This included my fleshly sister, the PO of my congregation ( who by the way said the he would come over my house with the CO that very next week and never showed, not even a phone call. ) and then a former elder who just recently got reinstated ( he also never got back to me. ) One had to wonder why???

I have since DA'd myself.

i thought i read somewhere about it but can't seem to find it.

for example: did speaking in tongues stop with the death of the apostles as per the wtbts ?

Birthdays-Are They REALLY Wrong To Celebrate??

good morning all and happy tuesday,.

most everyone knows that jehovahs witnesses do not celebrate birthdays.

the reason is that there are two examples given in the bible of birthdays and bad things happened both times.

To use the mindset of the JW"S when they use the deaths of 2 individuals as the basis for not celebrating birthdays, then one should not drive, fly or use machinery either. Just because people die in accidents doesn't seem to stop anyone from driving or flying now does it.

Also we are free according to the Apostle Paul who says at Col 2:16 "Therefore let no man judge you in eating and drinking or in respect of a festival or of and observance of the new moon or of a sabbath."

What reaction would the JW's have if you walked into the Kingdom Hall?

for those who didn't attend meetings for a while, imagine that you just walk into your kingdom hall 10 minutes before a meeting.

what would be their reaction?

I personally cant answer this question cause it ain't gonna happen.

NEED ADVICE ON FAKING A REINSTATEMENT

a friend of mine who is df'd is seriously considering trying to get reinstated in order to have his family back in his life.

this is not an easy decision because he's fully aware that this isn't "the truth", but the pain of being excluded from normal family relations is really tearing him.

he has two choices: either move away from his family and try and start a new life, or bite the bullet, try and get reinstated and then do the fade.

IMO Mary, your friend needs to see the complete picture here. His family and so called friends know that he doesn't believe. So most likely the elders are aware of this and probably view him as an apostate, in which case it would take him a long time to get reinstated. One must be true to Oneself. The real question would be, How would God view someone living a lie? In the bible there are 7 things it says that God hates, and one of them is a lier. IMO to do this is to lower oneself to the same level as the WTS. They live a lie daily. I myself could not live a lie. But I do hope and wish the best for your friend. Good luck to him.
