Some here are ex-bethelites, pioneers, ect., ect., and wonder if their precious and valuable time could have been better spent elsewhere. What is R6LASER's story, how many years of the good ol' "full time service" do you have? All of the persons that have been uncerimoniously dismissed from their safe haven of bethel are leaving and scratching their heads and wondering what in the heck they are going to do. Many of these persons are in their 40's with high school diplomas and are now being thrust out into the workforce. I, like so many of my "vow of poverty" co-workers, had no college education and spent years working for what we all thought was for the LORD and a good cause. However, when spending years at this beloved place, one begins to see things from a different perspective, especially for all those who have been laid off. These are the same persons who would have told you a couple of years ago, to trust God and he will work it out....NOW WHAT? Now these persons are beginning to see the society from a diffferent perspective like so many of us now have.

Elder Qualifications
by atypical ini was talking with my wife last night about the structure of the organization, and had a random thought.
i'm not picking on elders, because i know some elders i really like.
this is aimed at the hypocrisy of the performance-based atmosphere at the kingdom hall.. here are some things you do not have to really possess to become an elder:.

Now folks, remember that in one of the recent Watchtower study articles, these fine strapping older men are being trained not only now but for future positions in the paradise..."Elders now taking the lead in the congregation are being trained for present and post-Armageddon theocratic duties." (WT, May 15, 2006 pg. 24) and then applying Rev. 16:14, 16.
Anyone care to comment on that ray of light/truth?

A short summary of the punishments for Adam and Eve
by truthseeker inwhether you believe the genesis account or not, the punishments meted out on adam and eve were enormous.
yes, they both knew that they would die in the day of their eating from the tree, but why was it necessary for eve, and every other woman born afterwards, to have a painful pregnancy?
why did there have to be thorns and thistles?

This word "craving" was discussed in the late 1990's. His explanation was a sexual craving for the husband as well as a craving for wanting to be dominated by her husband.

Pink slips at Bethel
by beavis indoes anyone still have any friends at bethel?
it seems that there is a massive layoff at bethel in all three american complexes.
the layoff is supposed to affect everyone between the ages of 35-50 or maybe 60. i feel sorry for persons who chose to stay there, they gave up going to college, possible job offers or making a decent amount of money, having children, the list can go on and on.

The official letter is coming, I personally know of three couples in their forty's who have been asked to leave. They do not have an exit date yet, but are supposed to be making plans to leave.

In the U.S., a pink slip is a notice from a job that you are going to be layed off or your position is going to be terminated.

I feel sorry for persons who chose to stay there, they gave up going to college, possible job offers or making a decent amount of money, having children, the list can go on and on. Now they are being told that since they gave up their best working years for working under the vow of poverty, now they need to "go back in the field". There are persons that have been at that place for 25 years being asked to start packing and I can only imagine that those persons are feeling a little bit disillusioned because of this situation. I was there, working for free so that the Society could sell 360 Furman for 220 million dollars, it was tough to leave and go into the cruel, cold "satanic system of things".
Not sure if anyone heard this either, but supposedly those that are staying at Bethel, have "worldly education", whether it be a degree, lawyers, doctors, nurses, you know the drill. But this goes contrary to the recent "educational"studies put out in the Watchtower. I thought wordly education was refuse and not needed. The right way, the wrong way, and then the Bethel way is what we were always told. So many contradictions, I think I need to vomit now.

Memorial Partaker numbers must stop before Armageddon comes.
by gumby inaccording to statements in the past from the society regarding the time when those in the graves worthy of an earthly resurection will recieve their reward....it seems the idiots didn't think of something that would have made a bit more sense.. in the article below....they state the resurection cannot take place until all those of the annointed class are dead and resurected first......yet they continually printed the numbers of those still left on earth while at the same time....preached the end was anytime now.
kinda dumb ain't it?.

It is interesting that there are still around 8000 partakers. I believe that there are governing body members who are in their early sixties. When in the wide world of sports did they get their "calling"? I guess there are a lot of unfaithful holy one that makes it necessary to replenish the 144,000 numbers.

Elder's KM School notes and apostates
by beavis inthis is a message to sir82 or anyone with information on the recent kingdom ministry school, .
i have had several discussions with a friend of mine whose brother went to km school and he said there was information given about those who no longer attend meetings and are baptized "are sort of viewed as apostates".
i was speaking with a family member of mine concerning this issue and two questions arose: 1. are the notes from the recent km school acurate?

This is a message to sir82 or anyone with information on the recent Kingdom Ministry School,
I have had several discussions with a friend of mine whose brother went to KM School and he said there was information given about those who no longer attend meetings and are baptized "are sort of viewed as apostates". I was speaking with a family member of mine concerning this issue and two questions arose: 1. Are the notes from the recent KM School acurate? Of course I think they are, but trying to convince someone else is a different story, and 2. Was there any discussion concerning apostates and persons who no longer attend meetings?
Here is the reason for the question. Several years ago, two elders made comments during a Watchtower lesson concerning this very discussion. A misapplication of 1 John 2:18,19 was used along with comments in the Reasoning Book. Also, another misapplied scripture was 2 John 8-11. (This is using the NWT) However, upon viewing the true meaning of the Greek word along with their own copy of the Insight volumes, it clearly defines an apostate. Even further, Jude 17-23 offers counsel to those who are doubting and to help them. So, was there any "new light" concerning apostates and not attending meetings?
Thanks for the information, I enjoy reading everyone's discussions.

How does one proceed with writing a baptism nullifaction letter? I have heard of certain ones meeting with the elders to nullify their baptism, but I would like more information on this process. Could you please give me this information?
Thanks
