Having a bit of difficulty here...
by wanderlustguy ini haven't posted much in a while because i've been in deep thought about some recent events and trying to sort them all out.
i think you guys all know me well enough to know if i'm just freakin nuts or not...so assuming you all think i am sane...does this sound crazy to anyone else?.
when i got here, people kept telling me that if you come here, walk here, and are supposed to be living here, you will do so within a month of touching the ground.

Thats interesting, but not the case in our relationship. In fact it was my idea, not so much because of the sex part but because it was a natural progression on from the freedoms we were allowing ourselves after breaking free of the cult. I thought we should be free to express ourselves in all ways, emotionally, physically, spiritualy, sexualy, secularly etc. As long as we are not hurting anyone or ourselves. Of course our kids don't know, but then do YOUR kids know about your sex lives? Really kids have no impact on this. Our kids are happy well adjusted individuals who have been taught to think for themselves.

"Worldly" people are not only honest but beautifull as well. Some examples:
My sister was sitting on a bench in the city. A bearded man came up to her and said "You look like you could do with some cheering up." He handed her a $100 with a little smile and walked away. This meant a lot to her as she was dead broke at the time.
A while ago I lost my wallet with all of my money cards and all, a nice person called and returnd it to me intact.
A friend recently left her basket at the Carols by Candlelight. Some people took it home and left a notice on the local notice board, we were able to pick it up for her.
My friend was stuck in thailand, she had missed her flight by 1 minute and had no money for food or a place to sleep. She was crying on the phone to her mum. A stranger heard her and gave her enough money for food and accomadation for the night.
My sons bedroom caught on fire and was smoke damaged, all of my friends came over unasked and brought paint and brushes and repainted the room.
Our workshop, completely burned to the ground, lost all tools and means of livelyhood. Uninsured. Our friends organised a community fundraiser and raised us enough money to replace everything we had lost.
The WORLD truly is a beautifull place.

Not all men are controlling or unloving, some are for sure. My husband is not and some of the husbands of my girlfriends are not. They are truly loving giving men. Gentlemen, fun, outgoing and sociable. All of the women in my circle of friends are what I would call "new age" women. Strong, yet feminine, we all love our husbands and I'd definately say our husbands are NOT controlling. So maybe you just haven't found the right one.

Maybe its because some people can't seperate controll and sex. In fact Ive noticed that a lot of people think control + sex=love they have no concept of letting go and loving without control. When you have real love, sex is just a bonus. Also, of course you can love more than one person. I never got those scenes you'd see in movies and even RL where people would think you only have "one true love".

Its been my experience that there are a lot more people that are comfortable with the idea/practice of an open relationship than most would think. Most people just don't like it to be known. Also its often that the women are bi. Just seems to work well that way. I guess people in an open relationship mostly want it to be discreet you know, especially if you are known well in your town, have a business etc. Really its none of peoples business what your sexual orientation is, but the gay movement seems to have made orientation a pride issue.

Well, I can say from experience it works very well for my husband and I. We have a very strong and loving relationship and are both understanding and giving towards each other. I guess we looked at life and said "Who am I to stop this other being from enjoying life in every way possible?' So we decided on an open relationship. We have been married 16 years and had an open relationship for the past 3 or 4. Not really taken much advantage of it, but feel secure that we could (and have) when we wanted to.
The strange thing is that people who don't have open relationships seem to think that people who do are sex maniacs, who would bonk anything on legs. Its pretty crazy some of the reactions you get. (not that I go around spouting it off to everyone.) (Like I am doing here lol)
I think I could easily live in a polygamous relationship as well, I'd be quite happy to have another girl around the house.
