  Could a JW lifer not know about theocratic warfare?

  i was just looking at another thread about lying.

  it reminded me of a discussion i had a while back with my husband, who has been a jw all his life (dfd now).

  i brought up lying and this term "theocratic warfare," which i had never heard before, but found online.

  Thanks, y'all. He wasn't an elder. I know he wanted to be. I don't think he ever had any titles, but other than that, I think he was pretty heavily involved from birth. As far as the term itself, I EXPLAINED it to him. But even if I explain what something is, it doesn't click a lot of times unless I use the right term. (That goes for stuff outside the JW category, too.)
  
  We try not to talk about his religion or any aspects of it because we always fight about it and the fights are so awful. Next time we inadvertently get into it, I'll ask about "spiritual warfare." I just wonder about things sometimes, and it's a lot safer to ask my questions here.

  I was just looking at another thread about lying. It reminded me of a discussion I had a while back with my husband, who has been a JW all his life (DFd now). I brought up lying and this term "theocratic warfare," which I had never heard before, but found online. He acted like he had absolutely no idea what I was talking about, even after I explained it. Was that just another example of it, or is it at all possible that he really doesn't know about it?

  Why do the majorityof JW's look so happy at the hall?

  each time i go, i see a bunch of happy people, young and old.

  some smile more than others, but just about everyone seems happy to be there.. maybe we left because we weren't that happy, rather than finding flaws in the religion.. maybe they look happy because they aren't allowed to look sad..

  Maybe they're happy because they feel safety in numbers. Like if there's this many people who believe this stuff, it must be right. Not ever having been one, I don't know. Having encountered a few, my other guess is valium.

  i left in 1995 , ive heard ypu talk of it but what actually was said and what was the reation to the change by the rank and file , i do remember the millions now living will never die saying .

  Sounds good to me. And then they're exclusive, too, because they're the only ones who know this.

  It was another dreary UBM birthday. Birthday girl was moping around the house, trying to be mature. But wait -- hubby came home early with a card (a real one with the evil "happy birthday" words on it) and chocolate! UBM was rewarding him in a most unJW-like manner when the doorbell rang -- flowers! Now, I did pick out my own gift, but still, it was a gift. And there was a dinner reservation. I had a little cognitive dissonance of my own.
  
  There's been a lot of stuff happening that could very easily push him back to them, so this was really, really unexpected. He may end up doing an about-face, but this seems like a very good sign. I've been coming to this board for help and hope, which I've gotten quite a lot of. Maybe this will give some other UBM a little hope.

  The guiding star over Jesus was controlled by Satan?

  he said that satan was directing the magi to find jesus so they might.

  report back to herod who wanted jesus killed.

  "He said that Satan was directing the Magi to find Jesus so they might report back to Herod who wanted Jesus killed." Yeah, my husband told me that around Christmas. Obviously, they DID find him. So what happened? Why didn't it work out? Hubby couldn't tell me. Good question, Awakened07.

  MAgnesium and my migraine

  well, first off, to you whom suggested magnesium to me, thank you (i think) .

  my headaches have been a constant source of misery for me since my last desperate post regarding them.

  but i did start on the magnesium treatment.

  Have you tried feverfew? It worked for me and a couple of other people I know who tried it. It won't get rid of a migraine, though. It tends to prevent them, which is even better, but not much good while you're having one.
