Breaking point
by Journeys edge inalthough this is my first post under the name journey edge, i have been a member of the board for a few years now.
i just needed to change my identity to avoid being traced.
i left the truth a number of years ago after 20 years in the faith.

I didn't read all the posts, so sorry if I'm repeating. I just wanted to make a quick comment. He tells me I am controlling (I don’t know why- I have no desire to control any body) he said he is emotional afraid of me -again I don’t know why.
This is classic. I think anytime someone says stuff like this, they're trying to manipulate you. Why would you feel suicidal if you were controlling him? Someone asked you if you'd read your own post. (Sorry, don't remember who it was.) How would you respond to a friend who wrote something like that to you? I'm so sorry you're in this mess.

Jehovah's Witnesses are NOT stupid!
by nicolaou inafter several years 'out' i can't be the only one who still gets a bit pissed off to hear 'oh so clever' apostates slagging off jw's for being dumb, stupid and worse.
grow up!
the beliefs of jehovah's witnesses are certainly stupid but then i'd say the same for all christian belief just as many of you might condemn my atheistic, evolutionary postion as being nonsense.

Oh, look. It's RebelWife, the queen of analogies, again. I'm sorry, but that's just how I think. I'm sure no smart person has ever gotten sucked into a relationship with a rotten, no-good blankety-blank-blank. It's not stupidity. It's being human and having weaknesses that are preyed upon by an unscrupulous entity.

Jesus as Michael
by Kphoto inlet me start by stating that i'm not a jehovah's witness but have family who have been discussing it with me and i am hoping for a better answer than i have gotten thus far.
i can find no scriptural backing for jesus being the arch-angel michael.
in fact i find things that seem to show me that they are two distinctly different beings.

"So, the translator must insert the 'an', 'the' or 'a', in how they think it fits with the paragraph. That is way, I assume, some say 'an archangel' and some say 'the archangel'..." Interesting that the NWT translators chose to use "an," which indicates to me that they meant "one of the archangels."

Good job! I didn't see the show, but I wondered about her saying it was an isolated circumstance. Really? Like I said, I didn't see the show, but it wouldn't have come across as an isolated incident, would it? And I love the remark about the two big, strong angels wanting her to hear what you said!!!

Hi, NewTruth, So how would that sentence be translated? Why insert "an" if it gives an erroneous meaning?

Is grace enough?
by Kphoto inhi again, debating again with my favorite jw and the issue of grace became a firestorm.
my contention is that epesians 2:8-9 says it all but i get the arguement that "that's too easy" and shouldn't i have to do something.
my point is if i earn it it's not grace.

I like the saying, "You can't outsin God," meaning the grace of God.

1 Thessalonians 4:16 16For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a loud cry of summons, with the shout of an "archangel", and with the blast of the trumpet of God.
"An" indicates there is more than one archangel, so how could it indicate a specificone? Saying "the" trumpet indicates there is only one trumpet.
hence Christ comes or descends "with" this shout and also the Trump of God is playing. The text also says the Lord ascends "with" the trump of God. So is Jesus the trump of God too? Or is he making the trump of God sound? No. Again he comes "with" these 2 things, not that he is them.
Exactly! The shout and the trumpet are even in the same sentence. He rode with the urgency of Paul Revere. Must mean he is Paul Revere. He spoke with the fire of Martin Luther King, Jr. Must be MLK, Jr.

Good one, Sad emo. If love or forgiveness for our children were dependent on things like their doing the dishes or cleaning their rooms religiously (pardon the pun), none of us would love or forgive our children. They may screw up all over the place, but we still love them. We forgive them because we love them, because it is our nature. We love them even when they hate us. Another analogy that I like to use for my husband's benefit is that I don't make love to him because I am afraid of him or because he says so or because I'm trying to make him accept me, and it's not a privilege that's earned. It's an EXPRESSION of something beautiful and precious. We make love because we love each other, not vice versa. We also forgive because we love.
