alrighty.... all in good fun here.. but i feel like the tough guy calling out anybody and everybody.. but people have been talking bad about the federal reserve and the united states fiat money system.. i thing it's good.

it keeps a balance.. after all... all money is fiat.. even if we returned to the gold standard - all money is fiat.

it's just a representation of "what people will pay for what.".

My problem with the whole ordeal is that my money in the bank isn't earning as much interest as the inflation rate. (The real inflation rate and not the dream the fed says it is). So if I put back $3000 in my savings for a rainy day, by the time the rainy day comes, $3000 is only enough to pay the light bill. I could take more risks with retirement money since it can stay put for the next 35 years, but I can't put my rainy day fund in an IRA.

i read steve hassan's first book " combatting cult mind control" last year and just started reading with my wife his follow up book " releasing the bonds " put out in 2000. a few quotes i wanted to share with you in case you haven't read it - and to help us keep in mind how far we have come from being mind controlled when we were jehovah's witnesses.

hassan mentions , " destructive cults are distiguished by their use of deception and mind control techniques to undermine a person's free will and make him dependent on the group's leader.

he adds, " destructive cults use mind control techniques to keep members dependent and obedient.

Have you noticed a big difference in how you view life after being freed from cult mind control?

I feel like I can make my own decisions without asking someone else or consulting a WT CD.

How do you carry on in life now that you aren't controlled by Jehovah's Witnesses anymore ?

I still look to the Bible for advice but that's much different. The Bible says, "Do not neglect the gathering of yourselves together." Instead of consulting the WT and believing that means going to the kingdom hall 3 times a week, I can interpret it myself. I go to church or socialize with my Christian friends as often as it takes for me to feel connected to believers.

A big moment for me was when I started to feel like a real person and realized that not everyone noticed me like I thought. I thought that everyone noticed I was different and was dieing to be just like me because I had the key to life or something.

Have you ever noticed that JWs do things half-assed?

every jw i know doesn't take any pride in his work or hobbies.

always a rush job (half-assed).. anyone notice this?.

It wasn't this way for the JWs I knew. They worked hard to prove that JWs were better workers than the average joe. Being recognized as a good worker was giving a good witness and proved they had the truth.
