What if I made up a name and used my real address and filled out the form on their website? Do they actually come? Do elders come or some random dub?
For the elders out there: Since my parents know my address now that I've moved to a new town, do they register you as an apostate in Brooklyn or something? -

What Kinds of Weird Things were you banned from or not allowed as a child?
by mama1119 ini could not have a big new kids on the block pin, or wear any new kids on the block pins in puplic becuase it was considered idolatry.
i also could not wear my shoes without laces (it was cool back then) because it looked wordly.
what other strange theings besides the usual holiday/birthday stuff weren't you allowed to do?

I couldn't do any sports. That wasn't the healthiest habit to teach your kids!!. .. No cheerleading or gymnastics because I might miss a meeting.
I couldn't miss a meeting to do homework even when there was a big test or a paper due. I couldn't stay up late to do them either so my grades suffered and put me at a high B when I could have been an A student.
No pep rallies. I had to sit in the office during them.
I couldn't have second holes in my ears until my mom and her sisters got a wild hair and decided to all get them when they were shopping together. Then I got one since Mom couldn't explain why she could have one and I couldn't.
I couldn't have any posters. I had a wall you couldn't see from the door and I remember putting postors on it and my mom finding it one day and laughing and then ripping them off of the wall. I saved UPC symbols from my cereal boxes to get a Rainbow Brite postor and sent off for it. When it came in the mail, my mom made me throw it away.
I came home dressed as an Indian around Thanksgiving and my mom had a fit.
No smurfs.
One of my cousins couldn't watch football or disney films but I could.
I couldnt be in band or the chorus. Again to the office during chorus class.
I couldn't pray before lunch with the class.
I could stand during the national anthem (without my hand over my heart) when I was with my dad and I had to sit when I was with my mom. -

Didn't JW's do the "updating" thing with the Babylon book like the Rev book
by booker-t inmaybe some of the oldtimers might remember, but i seem to remember in the early 1980's that the wts "updated" the babylon the great book where many of the old light was thrown out.
i was a teenager but i remember studying the book again in the 80's and some jw's were upset by the changes.
if they do the same thing with the revelation grand climax book aren't they afraid that those oldtimers might get disgusted and leave the org?

The Gentiles Times Reconsidered--Again but this Time By Using the Bible
by thirdwitness inthink about this: if seven times mean only 7 years then daniel could have simply said 7 years.
why does daniel specifically use the word 'times' rather than years?
as we have already shown daniel used the word for 7 times instead of 7 years.

My JW mom said it best:
"I am a banker and can understand how to run a bank with all of my responsibilities from opening accounts to managing tellers and I can not understand when the Watchtower explains prophecy. I guess I'm just dumb"
No mom, you're not dumb. You know the WatchTower makes no sense, but you just can't let go.
Its amazing to me at how I can completely understand books on theology from scholars but the WatchTower publications leave me scratching my head. It reminds me of taking two puzzle pieces and jamming them together when you obviously have the wrong piece. -

Went to a Public Talk and WT Study, after about 5 yrs away.
by frankiespeakin init was boring,,snooze city, there were room for a bout 200 and they didn't have more than 40 in attendance very few youths mostly older ones(30 and beyound).
i didn't have a clue what the speaker was saying thank god i came a 1/2 late, those poor poor people that have to sit thru such mind numbing drival about how we are to treat people in the congregation and not to be jealous bla bla bla.
the wt the reader was drone the conductor brain dead and every body answered the wt by practically reading their answer word for word from the wt,, it was pitiful,,pitiful.

Married women don't mind being found attractive ... If you grabbed her or asked her to your bedroom, that would have sleezy. Flirting just probably made her feel better.
I think i might try this. I am just afraid that someone might know me in this town. I knew about 3 witnesses here but I dont know what KH they went to. I am also afraid that my family has warned them or something that I'm in town.

Why all the hostility toward WTS?
by hambeak in.
i'm very new to this and please understand, but at one time or another most everyone here was a loyal and faithful witness.. if you disapproove of it or don't fit in as i don't.
why keep pounding at them it is like an obsession.. i would really like to know.

Because they have taken my family from me.... I want my parents back. They feel dead to me. That's a scarey feeling! I was so fortunate to have 4 living grandparents and now its like they are dead. Its like having that wish that you could just see that person one more time. If my entire family (36 of them) had been in the world trade center, you wouldnt be asking why I have this hostility towards the men who flew the planes.

When have you ever heard JWs witnessing for JESUS?? LOL.... I don't remember hearing very much about Jesus at all while in the borg. It was always Jehovah, Jehovah, Jehovah... I think I would puke at this point if I went anywhere near a JW convention. The church I go to sits on a hill and you can see the convention center from the back parking lot. I almost got sick when the convention was in town and I had to see those badges at our restaurants. Renee

I've never been but it sounded like a great opportunity ... and I have to admit that there's something appealing about being in the mountains in PA in October :) Renee
