I only thought I was happy.
Now that I'm out I know what real happiness feels like. Maybe you haven't found real happiness yet to realize that you were unhappy?
a few days ago, i met an old lady that has a jw as neighbour.
she knows that jw couple since years, although she isn't a jw.
so, i asked that old lady, "do you still see that jw couple once in a while", hoping for some kind of juicy news..... so, my question is, "how can a person love to be a jw" when so many others just "hate" being in that religion?.
I only thought I was happy.

is anyone familiar with this upcoming event?
or know anyone who attends?.
i had "met" a few gals when i first left the wts (seven years ago) who talked about this convention....one was from western ny....but i have since lost touch with them and lost their email addies years ago.
I know there must be someone else out there going.
is that possible?..have there been any cases like this?.
my family have been on my case about me hanging around with people (non-jw family) that like to drink alot.
they went as far as to call me "a drunk"...now i do admit that i have been gotten drunk before on occasion, but i am not a drunk or an alcoholic.. so, i told my mother (obese) that if i were "a drunk" for getting drunk from time to time (not every day), then can she be considered "a glutton", for eating to much, obese, having health problems, all because of the way she eats?
The problem with this reason is that you are using too much reason. That is independant thinking. ..Remember that the governing body makes decisions based on their Bible trained conscience. Since they are part of Jehovah's channel to his earthly subjects, we do well to listen without qustion. Shame on you for trying to reason on anything! Things will be revealed in due time. ok sarcasm off ... But seriously -- do you still honestly think that anything about them makes sense? Renee

your attitude toward the wheatlike anointed "brothers" of christ and the treatment you accord them will be the determining factor as to whether you go into "everlasting cutting-off" or receive "everlasting life.
I've never met any of them .. so how do I get saved? lol...
this will probably apply to few here, but to me it'll always be that way.
it's the what if syndrome maybe, but it's always there.
i still think that as a core belief system the jw's have it right, even if their delivery isn't always right.
I personally believe that they have it all wrong but the important matter is this:
I think that what Jehovah's Witnesses fail to realize is that eternal life is a free gift.
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus or Lord."
Its not something that can be earned or deserved.
Eph. 2:8-9 "For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith -- and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works so that no one can boast"
No amount of good works can earn a person eternal life because, like any gift, it is free.
Its like if a friend gives you a car. If you felt like you should give her what money you had for it.. say $200.. it would no longer be a gift. The $200 would be an insult. If you give even a penny, you just got a really good deal on a car -- not a gift.
Its the same with eternal life.

ok, if i came to your country (usa, canada, france, holland, oz....wherever) what should someone experience or sample before they leave....to give them a true taste of your homeland.
limit it to 5 per post....if you can.. i'll start with england/britain.. english ale, the lake district (england), to get a true taste of england visit the city of bath (or maybe stratford, though a bit too touristy), sample some black pudding (blood sausage .
c'mon you patriots!!!!.
You need to go to New Orleans ...
Visit the French quarter for some benets (do-nut type thing but square and no hole).. street corner music, GUMBO ..
Then travel towards Mississippi and Alabama for a taste of southern cooking -- everything you can imagine fried, cornbread, and a spread of dessert ... spend Sat. night at a country redneck bar and Sunday morning at an African-American Missionary Baptist Church ...
Then travel over to Florida for beautiful beaches and relaxing sun while drinking cocktails! A great taste of the south!
i'm trying to come up with ideas for a halloween costume!
the kids have already decided.
my 4 yr old told my wife "don't let daddy be the cow this year, he was so silly..." so my cow costume from last year is out!.
I'm going to be bat girl and my bf batman :)
well, i believe i found the most absurd website ever.
i think this can be used as solid proof that you can make the bible say just about anything.
you be the judge.
I ran across this once before when trying to search for something to show that the WT was wrong about oral sex within marriage -- I found it humerious as well.
