  in all my years i have never seen the wts respond as vigorously and openly as it did to this event...not even ray franz got this much attention.. as an opener, here is the initial response printed in the wt (this is also a transcript, but .pdf's of the original can be provided as needed):.

  I had a chance this week to talk with a fellow poster who lives in Canada, and he told me a couple of things about the local "memory" of Salter, including that he apparently held clear deed to some WTS properties (why is not clear?), and that after this fiasco he simply took claim and left Rutherford holding an empty bag.

  Now, while I don't necessarily approve of such an action, I must admit it made me laugh...and perhaps it is an explanation for why Salter never sued the WTS: he already had payment in full and in hand?

  I'm still trying to convert that .pdf of the 1937 Golden Age that caba provided.

  NWT translation of Daniel 1:2 and 607

  do you know why the nwt starts verse 2 of daniel ch.

  1 with the words "in time..." which are not in the original hebrew text nor in any of the english translations i checked?.

  has it to do with supporting their 607 b.c.e.

  on a recent thread, i made a bit of fun about outlaw having to eat penguin morning, noon, and night.. as is the way of things, his almost unbelievably super-nasty p/m back to me made me do some research, and lo and behold, i found a plethora of penguin recipes suitable to all but the most sensitive of palates:.

  The Biblical Flood Thoroughly Trashed

  there are many new ones on this board who may not have seen this.

  my old friend alan feurerbacher who has done an unbelievable amount of scholarly research on many subjects must have spent about two or three thousand years researching virtually every aspect of the biblical flood story, and am providing the link to this subject (together with links to other excellent work by him).

  it's long and detailed and definitely not for those who get bored with more than four sentences of information and sound bites.

  I think, in my opinion as simple minded as it may be, ..... it comes down to the following: You either believe God manipulated scientific laws to create the "earth wide flood", or it was local.

  The last option makes the most sense, and is more demonstrable.

  For example, there was at one time a land bridge that blocked off the Black Sea from the Mediterranean, and there is to this day clear evidence that when that land bridge was breached (several thousand years ago) the ensuing flood of water inundated the entire periphery of that once "lake," to the tune of many hundreds of feet of water elevation, within a matter of days. Of course, all the "lake"side communities would have been devastated. And there is a "dead zone" of fresh deoxygenated water at the bottom of the Black Sea, over-ridden by salt water, that stands as a witness to that event.

  There is also evidence that a land bridge at the Mediterranean Straights broke through, leaving just the Rock of Gibraltar standing. I'm not sure of the timing on that one.

  And there is also geological evidence that a major tsunami came up into the Red Sea area, as a result of subterranean landslides and/or volcanic activity in the Indian Ocean. This too is difficult to time, but other recent events (like Krakatoa) show that it's entirely within the realm of possibility that such an event happened within the last several thousand years.

  Any one of these events could easily have been mythologized into a catastrophic worldwide "flood," and after all, if civilization did begin in the Middle East (as seems probable), then the "world" (Gk. oikoumene) of that time would have been impacted in such a way that could easily lead to a generalized concept of "worldwide flood."

  Just a few thoughts, randomly gleaned from here and there.

  NOW what do we called Disfellowshiped ones?? Since we don't use ....

  ...that term anymore, so are not disfellowshipped any more, but just no longer a witness, what is that?

  i wonder what word it will become to describe these ones and the action taken?

  we don't have one yet, but most dubs i know are still saying "he's disfellowshiped" oooo scary.
