Being in a cult - what good did it do?

so, here's a bit of a different point of view.

while most of us will agree that our time within the jw cult was rather terrible, however, i'd like to look at another aspect.

did anything good come out of being in a cult and then waking up from it?.

oh man!.

the april broadcast is so manipulative when it speaks about enduring.

the very premise makes witnesses feel burdened with a martyrdom and heavy hearted complex!

Our special talk was more of the same, out of a 30 minute talk 25 minutes were bitching about how awful life is, I kid you not. Even the speaker was finally like well lets talk now about something positive... then he kept going about depressing stuff...

endurance really means Enduring postponed expectation. So many people thought we'd be cleaning up billions of dead bodies by now and petting lions. Instead They are getting older like all of us. But still not "enjoying this life now"

5-9. now this sentence makes the elders sound like they should not control, use guilt to pressure etc... but then it has a qualifying statement no one seems to hear.

What this sentence really means in witnesses speak is if you are 100 years old, terminally I'll, or something similar, they won't pressure you to work harder for the org.

WHEN THEIR CIRCUMSTANCES DO NO PERMIT THEM TO. That means they CAN try to control and pressure with guilt anyone who they feel should do more AND has (in their opinion) the circumstances. I hate this kind of stuff. When you read the article on JW.org about "Do Jehovah's Witnesses Shun?" To an outside it sounds like the witnesses are so loving and balanced, but it is loaded with this type of witness legalistic code language.

Who can't see this as obvious deception? Everyone commenting gobbles it up as so loving and no one mentions the qualifying part... CULT

Ok, so in the spirit of the April broadcast, what do you want to ask god to fix for you?

so by now most of us have heard about (or watched) the april broadcast and the ridiculous "experience" of the guy that asked god to fix his construction leak before he believed in him..... so, what would you like to "pray that god fixes" in your life??.

humorous or serious replies welcome!

(although sarcastic, cynical and funny replies preferred hehe).

Genesis 3:15 in the special talk...

so as they were reading this today, i read also v. 14-16. now 15 is the basis for the whole theme of the bible essentially for witnesses, i am not sure but other religions must believe the same.. snake=satan.

If I got that somewhat correct. But when you read 14 for instance, its talking about god judging the snake, not some spirit creature, he's saying the snake is gonna eat dirt etc, then he talks in 15 about bruising in heads and heels and seeds, then 16 talks about how its now gonna hurt like hell when a woman has a baby. So God is basically going person to person saying whats gonna go wrong for them, snake, woman, man and so forth, it reads like the allegory it really is, what I can't fathom is how much meaning was put into verse 15!!!!!! just out of the blue this short nonsense lays out the salvation for mankind??? Why would god need to be covert, and not just say "here is what I am gonna do..." so silly
