  this is in the july 2015 monthly program on tv.jw.org cedars wrote about it too.. starting at around 42:30 in the video, morris talks about the child abuse situation for almost 10 minutes.

  Did you read my explanation for this odd old PSA? I think this abuse storm has been brewing for a while, and I don't think their intention was ever for anyone to see or care about that PSA. It is a business/legal CYA move. If they had promoted it to us back then it may have seemed strange, but now, in retrospect, there is a record of them doing something proactive even though virtually no one in org ever knew it or saw it. The legal team's work I believe. Preparing for the future ass kicking they were sure to get, to give something defensible.

  don't want to get into a lot of detail but it seems like my wife is finally having some flashes of awareness.

  she's got them before, but not in very touchy subjects.

  she was willing to seat down with me and look over some websites talking about some very controversial subjects that i do not dare to write about at the moment.

  "the governing body asked me..." I am sure its more like "The legal department begged me"

  Also this old PSA, very interesting, very covert, I am sure this was a legal move from my own experience in business and legal, they didn't really promote it, but by releasing it they put something on record back then showing "proactivity" if you will. Very clever and will probably elude the skepticism of most R&F.

  Why using Jehovah for God's name is as good as using Yahweh

  in another thread i wrote some notes about why using jehovah in english is as good as using yahweh.

  i'm starting a discussion on this topic because it sounds quite ignorant to hear people talk of the monk who started using it in latin without really understanding why the monk did so.. the spanish dominican monk, raymundus martini, in 1270, didn't get hoodwinked by an old jewish superstition about pronouncing the divine name with the vowel points of another word.. 1. first the vowel points of adonay and jehovah cannot be the same for grammatical reasons.

  you just can't use the same vowel points because some vowels aren't paired with some consonants in pronouncing hebrew words.

  Jerusalem = Yirusalem

  Where does Josephus' 4th vowel come from?

  This all seems like a quagmire to me. I mean divine...

  I don't believe we know what the real YHWH would be, and if we could it still wouldn't matter.

  I don't believe anyone left any conclusive clues, the original was lost to superstition.

  And while Martini or anyone else of that time period may not have invented Jehovah, they certainly were the point of reinforcing it, an unknown as fact.

  A difficult yet necessary decision

  the past five weeks have been perhaps the most painful in my life as a witness.. some months ago a young man (i'd say in his late thirties or early forties) began attending meetings at my kingdom hall.

  he had just moved to my area from another state.

  he had disassociated himself from his home congregation many years back, when he was 20 years old and going through many of the typical trials and temptations most young men experience.. two of the elders met with him initially, and they later shared the details with the body of elders.

  Hebrew names that being with yod though are consonants though no? Isaac for instance. Or Jerusalem.

  Then still the E in the beginning, why is it not an A?
