Would you have married your spouse if you weren't both JWs?
by 3rdgen inok, i've had some wine, but i'm curious.
objectively speaking, but for the religion, did you have enough in common with your spouse to have met and married as non believers?

Slimy business, but clever. I remember passing this case at bethel and having them gloat, not about the "awards" in it, but how humble they were not to make an ostentatious display for them!! I shit you not. Like "oh we just have them on this basic shelf in a hallway because its nice but we really don't care." yea right, -

Interesting article about the evidence of the Jewish Exodus
by cappytan inthe reality is that there is no evidence whatsoever that the jews were ever enslaved in egypt.
yes, there's the story contained within the bible itself, but that's not a remotely historically admissible source.
i'm talking about real proof; archeological evidence, state records and primary sources.

Funny thing, on one of the jw bible tours at the metropolitan museum of modern art, in the Egypt section they point to a broken piece of pottery. Probably smalled than a silver dollar. With a small man on it with a beard. They said this was evidence of Hebrews in Egypt, they quote the scripture about the rocks crying out and acknowledge how there is virtually no evidence but the big J was using this pottery as proo . Then everyone oood and awwwd. I had to take family and friends on these tours several times. I always found them amazing. Now I just see how the witnesses twisted actually archeology and history to fit their ideas of truth. So sad. -

Long time lurker, first time poster ...
by LettMorrisSplaneit ini finally had the guts to create a profile to be able to post.
i've been lurking for a few months and have read all your experiences and comments dutifully.
you have been a great help in my process of waking up from this cult posing as the one true religion.

Why Me?
by Grey Goose init the question that i have found myself constantly asking myself the past few months.
out of all the jws i interact with, why did it have to be me that woke up from this mess?.
i am relieved that i have woken up to the bullshit, but a side of me misses that fuzzy feeling of being a 100% believer.

That "fuzzy feeling" was not real. At all! Waking up is a cluster-f-ck of stress this is true, but when you get yourself properly distance you will realize that the fuzzy feeling was not so good.
A lot of us feel we had so many friends inside and outside not as many. But I say this, once you are out you need to learn how to be friends with yourself, find out who you are, what you will believe, and why you like being your true self. Good luck.

Any weapons enthusiasts here?
by Wonderment ini knew i had a couple of firearms around the house, and one in the car.
however, i didn't realize i had seven, yes, seven of them, when i proceeded to count them.
the reason for that is that i haven't gone to the shooting range in years.

There is a documentary series on Netflix called 'Genius' i think. One of the episodes was on the development of the revolver during the civil war and basically the business competition that was taking place and driving the firearm technology. I highly recommend it to pro and anti gun folks. If you don't understand WHY america is a deeply ingrained "gun culture" that should help. It became a fabric of society in america during that time. Answers a lot of questions about 'why' America embraced the gun.
And as for america modern day issues with it, as I mentioned before the loopholes should be closed in the law, but also much more complicated to address is that the United States is not a homogenous society, but rather a melting pot that occasionally boils over; there is a large economic underclass; there is a weak net to catch those who are struggling; gang culture.

Since I mentioned the guns I have let me mention a few more things.
- I have a gun safe, and carry permit
- I am NOT a member of the NRA, nor do I support them, and I really don't care about their "agenda"
- I do not post all over my social media myself surrounded by guns
- I don't wear daisy duke's, i don't drive a lifted truck, I wear suits and drive a benz
- I've never screamed "yeehaaa!" when firing a gun.
- I like guns, I am not a "gun nut". No one here knows the environment I was raised in and why guns became a normal part of my life.
- I know guns are not toys
- I believe more laws relating to background checks and firearm identification WILL dramatically reduce deaths and are necessary.
- If guns were banned, I'd still have a gun.
- And I know everyone has opinions on them, I only have opinions for myself. Opinions don't change anything, only actions and I can only control my actions.
- I don't thing the size or number of guns I own has anything to do with enhancing my manhood, only genetics can have a say on that.
- I don't believe everyone who owns a guns should, or is smart enough to won one. yes that is scary.
- For every dislike my above post about what I own gets, I will throw away one of my guns. not really, because as I said before opinions don't do anything. Only actions.

Did any of us ever enjoy meetings?
by stephanie61092 inthis is a legitimate question.
did any of us ever find real joy in being at the meetings?
did any of us ever finish a meeting and think "i feel so enriched"?

even now, if i go on a Sunday with the wife (to be nice), a good portion of the elder body spends the time in the back and outside talking about "building maintenance" and other BS during the meeting. No one likes this shit -

S&W M&P sheid 9mm for everyday carry.
Magnum Research Baby Eagle .40 For home.
Used to have a Taurus. 357. That was great one. Also a ruger mark iv .22. Super fun and accurate.
Of course I have a wish list a mile long. But its really impractical, not enough time and money at the moment also its sort of silly. But when you like something you always want a variety in your collection.
The forum can judge me now lol.
