1. They are a cult not based on any of the abrahamic religions. This makes them more of an outsider. Sometimes peoples minds are obscured from the lunacy of most religion because it was "mainstream" for ages. Scientology is really new in a way that it takes nothing from past religions except the cult model.
2. Lots of active high profile celebrities. I don't think you can compare it to jw in that way. It was a Hollywood religion in a way.
3. More mystery more controversy more conspiracy. The media makes its darlings from scientology to trump.

Why haven't you been to the meetings?
by Zana insome cong-member asked my wife this question (in the street, stopping her on her bicycle) in a rather police-like fashion.
i wasn't there so i don't know her immediate reaction and response, but she got very upset afterwards and one day later this still occupies her mind.
i believe it's an emotional mix of anger, sadness, shame and guilt.. she doesn't like this intrusion in her privacy from some jws and on the next occasion she will try to make this person respect her boundaries (or just ignore her).

USA toddler in car shoots mom dead AGAIN!!!

today a milwaukee woman was killed by the same thing.
australian 30 year anniversary of port aurthur massacre when most dangerous automatic weapons were banned.....no massacres since for 30 years.

All the social justice virtue flag flying about gun control doesn't do a damn thing.
I live in america, its laws may be too lax on what is required to own a gun, despite this I take regular training, I have a conceal permit, I know the realities of owning a gun responsibly, I don't have to be educated, and safe, and do these things but I choose to, I also choose to support those who do the training, who are not "gun shop cowboys" spewing rhetoric about the second amendment.
Just by doing what I do and supporting who I support that is closely aligned with law enforcement I have already done much more than a bunch of social justice masturbates posting headlines in discussion boards.
America doesn't need to ban guns, they need better laws, and even the places with the best laws it still doesn't do a whole lot as they are often the most violent.
Opinions do little, action does more. Stop virtue flagging, its tacky

We have a population of 400 million with just as many guns. You will be able to find this type of story every day if you like. The obsession over American culture, politics, and laws seems strange. Most Americans could care less what happens over in Britain.

When you are ready to stop with the recruiting, just keep turning in time until you are ready to stop that. I don't want to encourage anything you aren't ready for but I would encourage to continually (and slowly) make progress out.
If you continue being awesome to your wife, being a good person all around, and are more balanced an happy the further away you get, you never know how that might affect her. Its hard to ignore when someone is better and happier so embrace the change. I know a lot of people will say they are experiencing depression or anxiety or are discouraged in order to justify their fade (an honestly to each individual whats is right for them is right). I choose to take a different route.

- I am happy and healthy
- I don't have doubts about "the truth", i know all about it. (its a cult)
No one who can't handle the truth about the truth with an open mind deserves any more explanation unless they are able to handle it. For instance now i am able to be more critical at times (although i do my best to refrain) and the wife will either passively make an alternative view point, agree, or say nothing. Where as these comments in the past would have sent her into a tail spin of CD panic.
