"Jehovah ALWAYS had/used an organization". How would you reply?
by EdenOne inin a recent meeting with elders, an argument was used to the effect that jehovah has always [= throughout history] used, or operated through, an organization; therefore, the wts must be that organization today, since god must be using one.
naturally, i know what arguments i've used to counter that argument.
but i'm interested in hearing yours.

Well if you feel the need to believe the bible... when Jesus showed up his organization. Was corrupt. In fact the Hebrews were disobedient more of the time worshiping baal than the big J. It's all nonsense -

Your worst convention experience.
by zeb inby a split second rescuing our handicapped son from being pushed down the stairs by a flood of sisters rushing out to see as the drama had started.. the main offender being a special pioneer..

Attending, I really got to see that this is not a special organization. And I am not talking about a handful of weak ones, I am talking about the majority and even well regarded elders and their families. I've never been so disgusted with people. The rudeness, the disregard, these people are only sheep when it comes to buying into BS doctrines. Otherwise they are sneaky, stubborn, entitled @$$HOLES. At one of the last conventions I was an attendant at I had multiple horrible experiences. It sickened me and only pushed along my feeling that these people are nothing special, but love to talk about how their conduct is so different than the world. Well its not -

Reason why God wanted/made humans write the scriptures
by looter injehovah's witnesses believe that god sent humans to write the bible because his servants can relate better to humans since they are humans.
i heard that at a meeting two weeks ago.
it does not make sense to me at all but i do not know how to explain it.

Your logical neocortex is telling you this doesn't add up, which is correct. Why is it so important? really? Just like say billions and billions of people need to suffer and die over a point made when eve bit the apple? Its what I like to call the witness 2+2=5 mentally. Everything your brain wants to reject they need to come up with some explanation that gets you to the desired end result. That the bible is right.
Its analog thinking and its stupid. How much more reliable would a source be that was with god??? If and angel wrote to us "you must not murder" are you going to say wtf does he know, he's not a human like me!! no! What's right is right (biblically speaking) and whats wrong is wrong. Who cares who wrote it. Its just something that helps dubs sleep at night so they can tell themselves the bible is not a book of fairytales.

Need to vent: Wife just went in full cult mode, huge fight. she is so brainwashed
by goingthruthemotions inout of the blue my wife started to ask me about my feeling about the borg.
i told her i didn't want to talk about it...she persisted.
she already knows how i feel, i told her that my biggest beef is that they use mind control, and yep she went in to how i was an apostate and how she doesn't want to be married to an apostate.

People in the org often fail to see the ration ship between jdubs and other things they find appalling. Like radical islamists, super isolated groups like the amish, or dangerous Jim Jones type cults. But this is one of the most powerful and common DNA ' s of undue control. Intolerance of questioning doctrine. To accessing outside information that doesn't come from within, in Islamic extremism it has a clear horrible effect. .. but in the dubs isn't this also destructive in its own way? She will leave you for simply having a questioning mind. Something the dubs incorrectly pride themselves on. "Prove to yourself it's the truth... from our literature and opinions ONLY!" I feel you pain. I have the fights etc. But my only difference is she told me I can do what I want she won't leave. Which is surprising, but the only thing we fight about is this GDamn religion. Thomas straight doubted jesus no??? He was not treated as an apostate? I'd use that but its hard to make my defenses based on something I consider a fairytail

3rd Gen DF'd finally writing
by AFreeBeliever ini've been reading many of the postings on this forum for a couplefew years, finally joined today.
i think reading cappytan, and others like that, compelled me to share, it seems i might have a bit of a different outcome than many i have read, perhaps it will be hopeful/helpful to someone.. i was a born-in, 3rd gen jw, my entire family (parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and most all of my childhood friends) were in.
some dropped by the wayside as the years went on, but many stayed in, and if they didn't, they still acted/talked as if they believed it was "the truth" and it was their weaknesses/failings that made them stop attending.

A Mind at War
by cappytan inright now, i feel like my mind is at war with itself.. on the one side is reason, logic.. on the other is tradition, hope and fear.. reason and logic are challenging life-long beliefs.
they are telling me, "is this any more believable than the story of the lord of the rings?".
certain doctrines of my belief system are crumbling.. my mind still wants to hold on to the belief in a creator, his son jesus and the bible.

If i was writing a book on how it is to break away, I'd call this time the detox time, just don't give up your course, and soon you'll make it through and have peace. It's powerful and like getting off a drug your mind has depended on for so long. -

downton.org
by freemindfade ini hate to out myself like this... but was watching downton abbey with the wife .
and anyway, there are a lot of high control similarities to the aristocracy and other control groups and cult etc.
there are fascinating bits constantly exposing how the an elite class are self ordained to be in such a position, and completely unqualified in many ways, something not as educated as a lowly school teacher of the time, or not as driven by questioning and truth as a lowly drive, but just do as your told... because... anyway this is not my main point, what i am getting at is in the last episode i caught (spoiler alert) it was a big deal for them to get a "wireless" basically a radio, in the house.. you can constantly see how the establishment is threatened by people being informed or exposed to outside people and ideas.

OneEyedJoe Thats when I stopped doing family worship,
1. it turned into some of me and my wives biggest fights, as it escalated into me questioning things that seemed illogical (pre learning TTATT)
2. It really got me questioning the bible more every time we studied.
Thats how i got out, if I didn't either she would have killed me or we'd be divorced.

"Give your heart time to catch up with your head. " what cofty said is a perfect way of describing it. Someday you'll feel like you are falling out of control, but you aren't just give yourself time to break the shackles. -

Focus on the freedom, with a good fade the heartache wont happen, and the void left by your crumbling doctrines will soon be filled with relief and peace. Tear it down. Let it crumble. There is light on the other side trust me, I know the anxious feeling you are experiencing. Being a witness for a long time or raised in it as I was gives you an all or nothing mentality, this makes it hard to progress without feeling like the ground is going to open up and swallow you
