Woke up this morning to the realization that the future is now
by campaign of hate inas the title of the thread says, i woke up this morning realizing more than ever that we should, each and every one of us, live for today and what we can accomplish today, rather than constantly looking toward the future.. i'm not implying we shouldn't make plans, plans are healthy and advisable, especially if you have healthy commitments.. but i realized the reason why nothing in my life ever seems to get done, is because i put things off, and look ahead 10 years down the line, then a few days later realize how much work needs to be put into that said task, then i don't do anything.
and so the cycle seems to repeat itself.. what i think i'm trying to say is that worthwhile endeavors that have a reward at the end, but take many years to get there, need to be challenged one day at a time.
i now understand that to get to where we want to be 10 years down the line, we need to focus on today and the hard work that needs to be out into a task one day at a time.

They wore out the word "soon" i think no one can stomach it anymore, or take it literal. Crying wolf for too long -

Saturday morning JW knock knock
by FirstLastName ini was home on saturday morning, around 10:30 a.m. when i heard my doorbell ring.
i checked my security monitor and could see two jw women at my door.
i breathed in deeply.my husband works a graveyard shift and was sleeping.

So happy to not be that person. All my years working out with bros and sisters, most people never enjoyed going out. They would try to have fun but deep down no one really wants to irritate people in the AM. Especially elders, they would do everything they could to not do D2D. -

You got it bud. People that have success (and are happy about it) have this view. The WTS trained us this life is crap, do your time slave for the lord blah blah. But thats all crap. We've all been waiting for god to fix things, when really its only us. I hear my moms voice now telling me, you'll never have to go to school, you'll never have to get a license, you'll never have to work in this world. That damaged my life, but today is mine. Best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, second best time is now. Get to living! -

It's been my observations that most JW adults are way more excited and into the Caleb and Sofia nonsense than kids even.
They do the standard cult thing and ask you "isn't this great..." isn't it wonderful how..." ""isn't our org the best..." with a cracked smile that says inside I'm dying because of this so please agree with me to help me fight rational thought from coming through.

Caleb is going to make friends with Bart Simpson fall out of the truth and be an apostate at 10 for the rest of his life/cartoon career.
When they first came out with this madness my thought was this. This probably how every story came about in the bible. Just that a story to guide or indoctrinate kids. They probably stuck as true by mistake or maybe design. In 100 years from now dubs will be reading from the books of Caleb and sophia. Unable to distinguish story from reality.

Jw still believe 4026 B.C.E as Adams creation...?
by thedepressedsoul ini was doing some "research" and came across jw articles that all talk about 4026 b.c.e as adams creation.
it even went as far as to state, "there are no actual records of ancient man, his writing, agriculture, and other pursuits, extending into the past before 4026 b.c.e., the date of adams creation.
since the scriptures outline mans history from the very creation of the first human pair, there can be no such thing as prehistoric man.

Would be great if the OT had dates and records like those pesky satanic pagan nations kept, of course then where would the numerology and mystery be and the need to faith and speculation and ambiguities. Guess it's better to not have good records for the most important book supposedly ever written. -

Data-dog that part made me extremely uncomfortable as well. My wife most sense my utter discomfort and embarrassment by this organization.
This is not the religion I was raised in. It's dying an ugly death, a sort of wizard of oz don't look at the man behind the curtain distraction show.
I always had a fear in the back of my mind all these years, what if this was just another mainstream religion. Then blindly tell myself it couldn't be. Well... I am for $hit sure now that is indeed it is. Mainstream and crazy.

I love people, but I lose immediate respect for anyone who believes the bibles account of the flood, you have to be so incredibly blinded by cognitive bias to buy that crap. Even at my most fateful I guess I believed it was allegory at best. Total nonsense for so many reasons. -

Who is your favorite "Apostate"? Who helped you see the truth about "The Truth"?
by minimus ini would have to say that ray franz was the biggest influence for me.. when i first got on this board, a poster by the name of james, a former bethelite and organization heavy, helped me understand a lot of the inner workings in the upper echelons of the society.. .
and of course, farkel's common sense approach was (usually) helpful..
