Having Faith in the Bible
by william draper ini know many on here have lost faith in the bible , is it possible that is because ones do not have the right perspective regarding it .
we have usually been taught by bad teachers , or ignorant .
i believe if we take an honest look at the bible , we will see that it gives us the best answers to crucial matters , it gives us some amount of bearings ( understanding ) , which without having such knowledge we would all be more like walking zombies in amanner of speaking , we would be lacking hope in something better , for surely something better is to come , how can we be sure , .

The bible is a dangerous book with dangerous ideas and consequences, not divine enlightenment. -

We are all born atheists, religion is what someone gives to us.
You have prairie dogs that have evolved to be monogamous, others are not, their brains are wired differently, one the ocytocin receptors work differently. One is not reading the bible and the other isn't. In the case of one monogamy is part of their evolution and social structure. The other it has no baring.
What I am getting at is who is to say the marriage is necessary for humans? Or even moral??? It is so deeply engrained in us its hard to imagine it otherwise, but that is not because of GOD its because of indoctrination. I am not preaching against marriage, but honestly I believe it is as man made as the bible itself. If two people want to be together forever and not with anyone else and can do it, more power to them. It they chose a different path I don't believe they deserve eternal destruction by god.
The bible didn't even start as the "Holy Bible" it was a library of jewish writings and there was a lot more to it than just the Holy Bible you thump today. It's existence is a result of a need for a foundation myth and political social control reasons. That is as plain as day if you read it in the context of history with its lack of actual archeological backing.
tim3l0rd everyone is allowed to express their faith. To say that the bible is all the things that Cofty mentioned because of cultural attitudes of the time would mean YHWH was relenting to the desires of these tribal sheepherders to follow their culture over TRUE morality. No thanks. I'll pass.
Such a "wise" book

This is where the bible got lost along the way... and what it should be to be a "good person".
1. Reason, Not Superstition
2. Ethics, Not Dogma
3. Respect, Not Worship
4. Courage, Not Fear
5. Fact, Not Myth
6. Morality, Not Religion
7. Clarity, Not Delusion
8. Good, Not God
9. Skeptic, Not Cynic
10. Rationality, Not Ideology

My friend, most of the "good things" in the bible were written by the Egyptians long before whomever wrote the bible. Fact.
Humans are an every evolving group, we are strong social creatures, we are stronger when we have stronger society, logic tells us that not murdering, not stealing and so forth creates a stronger more successful society, even in untouched cultures who have never heard of the bible and follow the same basic moral principles.
Greek myths and other "foundation myths contain accounts that use sometimes real places, and moral stories. Does that make them true? There are volumes of research on where the bible has actually come from, where its main themes were plagiarized from etc. I ask you spend some serious unbiased research time on these then consider your question again.
The bible and religion were part of our evolution and imagination, but what they are today is an answer to questions no one should be asking
Peace and love FMF

Such double standards. Broadcast videos and convention propaganda about the importance of 100 years of the kingdom, then downplay the witness obsession with dates in a JC.
What kills me too is the pedophellia thing. "its imperfect men"... "it's imperfect men" When a problem is SOOOO widespread and problematic to be called "systemic" within an organization/system/group, well there is something else wrong. Its not just "imperfect men" any more.
They use the trap "do you believe in Jehovah"? When i hear that (on here for from my own family etc), I envision someone hiding behind a tree with strong attached to a stick holding up a box, waiting for you to walk in, I really do appreciate the way Isaac answered, good for him. It's incredible how much of this organization runs on little rules, policing, dogma and doctrine, then this guy gets in the room for his JC and its "DO YOU BELIEVE IN JEHOVAH"? They always try to reason (as the elders did with me) just like him, forget the dates, forget org, forget this and that... yea right! that stuff is crammed down our throat and used as a noose around our neck, then when you need to keep someone from bailing all of the sudden thats not whats important. horse shit!

Being in a cult - what good did it do?
by Garrett inso, here's a bit of a different point of view.
while most of us will agree that our time within the jw cult was rather terrible, however, i'd like to look at another aspect.
did anything good come out of being in a cult and then waking up from it?.

"Life is SO HARD!!" The martyrdom and moaning of the April broadcast!
by stuckinarut2 inoh man!.
the april broadcast is so manipulative when it speaks about enduring.
the very premise makes witnesses feel burdened with a martyrdom and heavy hearted complex!

Our special talk was more of the same, out of a 30 minute talk 25 minutes were bitching about how awful life is, I kid you not. Even the speaker was finally like well lets talk now about something positive... then he kept going about depressing stuff...

God evolved from chimpanzee diety
by freemindfade inresearchers say todays lord almighty shares many traits in common with the chimp deity, including color vision and omniscience.. .
berkeley, cachallenging long-held views on the origins of divinity, biologists at the university of california, berkeley, presented findings thursday that confirm god, the almighty creator of the universe, evolved from an ancient chimpanzee deity.. the recently discovered sacred ancestor, a divine chimp species scientists have named pan sanctorum, reportedly gave rise over millions of years to the lord our god, maker of heaven and earth.. although perhaps not obvious at first glance, there are actually overwhelming similarities between the supreme being of today and this early primate deity who preceded him, said dr. richard kamen, a leading biologist who also heads berkeleys paleotheology department.
the holy chimp moved around on all fours, but its descendants eventually began walking upright to expend less energy while foraging across the infinite reaches of the universe.

endurance really means Enduring postponed expectation. So many people thought we'd be cleaning up billions of dead bodies by now and petting lions. Instead They are getting older like all of us. But still not "enjoying this life now" -

JW Articles Loaded with Intentional Imbedded Misleading Clauses...
by freemindfade inthis makes me fume while i sit listening to this at the sunday beeting.... "hence, an elder who is tenderly compassionate does not try to control the sheep, making rules or using guilt to pressure them to do more when their circumstances do not permit them to.-w15 2/15 pp.
5-9. now this sentence makes the elders sound like they should not control, use guilt to pressure etc... but then it has a qualifying statement no one seems to hear.
when their circumstances do no permit them to.

What this sentence really means in witnesses speak is if you are 100 years old, terminally I'll, or something similar, they won't pressure you to work harder for the org.
