  Up until about a year ago I was still being used as an attendant. let me tell you something, witnesses are HUGE assholes. We make them out to be way more behaved than the "world". But the reality is at assemblies they are as big if not bigger assholes than anyone else. Also completely untitled, not obedient AT ALL. Some of the biggest do-good righteous people in the org who would condemn you for just about anything, are some of the most selfish arrogant people.

  Reminds me of some kind of preflight video and airline would make. There have to be two groups coming from all this in the org, those that think their cult is getting so hip, and those saying WTF???

  so today's wt seems to put out the idea that during early christian times it was god's hand that made the romans build roads, have strong laws, etc.

  to make the preaching easier.. anyone else notice that?

  some here really banged on about how great it was that god did that, just for them.

  speaking of ones who "failed to show appreciation for all the rich spiritual food we get from the f&ds", the speaker said this:.

  "many have even failed to keep up with everything we are lovingly provided by christ's brothers, and rather than keeping their faith strong, they have become complacent and even critical ofjehovah's provisions!

  I love this rhetoric, I didn't start feeling happy my whole 35 years of life until I started living apart from this cult. To me the is a fallacious bold face lie. I know many who have experienced this, and my opinion of them is that leaving the truth was only because they wanted to go out and be what they considered "worldly" so the did everything crazy they could, and they were like sheep amongst wolves because the cult made them this way. So yes they were chewed up and spit out because they were ill equipped to deal with "Life".

  The shift: from follower to wanting to leave

  this week has been the week when my whole way of thinking shifted.

  i still cannot believe how this can happen so fast.

  over a period of seven days i went from not even imagining that i could ever not be a witness to wanting to get out of this organisation.. .

  Be prepared to pace yourself. There is a roller coaster of ups and downs coming that come with waking up from this. You have a lot of support here, use it, ask questions before acting on certain things, and as was already said, take a deep breath and make sure you keep it together. Things will get much better for you, just be ready for strong emotions. Anger, sadness, but in the end you will be a much happier person. Continue waking up in a peaceful way, don't feel the anxiety that comes with having to make a decision, make it on your time and your way. Witnesses push the idea of choice, "if you aren't this, then you are that". Don't let it push you. You ARE in control.

  Seriously condsidering disasscoiating

  i am seriously considering disassociating myself.

  i want to do this because i no longer consider myself one of jehovah's witnesses.

  i no longer consider jehovah as my god and i am in a new religion now.

  Dangerous "Pent up" feelings inside of most witnesses?

  i have often wondered if there is more harm done to people who are stifled or smothered from expressing their natural conduct, feelings or actions because of it being condemned by religious ideals?.

  so if a person keeps suppressing their real personality and tries to mould themselves to the "perfect" or "ideal" version as expected from those controlling them, could they eventually "bust" so to speak?.

  for instance, witnesses condemn many forms of entertainment.

  i find it hard to believe that adults on this forum make such a big deal about not celebrating birthdays, x-mas, easter, halloween, etc, etc, etc.

  i grew up as a jw kid and it actually made me feel good, being different from the other kids in school.

  we went to meetings.

  I don't feel deprived, I just think its silly. I could careless not celebrating my birthday etc, but when someone says to you "happy birthday" or "merry christmas" to have to invest the energy to not respond to someone just trying to be kind is crazy, that bothers me. I don't feel I missed anything, but just to be nice back to someone and say happy birthday is just a small human kindness, nothing more nothing less. Putting so much thought and energy into avoiding something so nonsensical is a major component of keeping the cult members sedated to reality.

  When you wake up fully from this witness madness, you realize that others accept and love you only based on who you are, and you do the same with everyone else.

  Something that the witnesses or any doomsday cult look down upon strongly. But you suddenly realize you have wasted so much energy and love obsessing about nonsense.
