Type and Antitype
by wisdomfrombelow ini was looking for july 15th watchtower article today to use the words type and antitype but they didn't.
i wonder when they stopped using those phrases as it seems to be a few years.
who was the person who liked to use that word like the person who loved to use antediluvian?

I think they did this to cover their ass and rattle out the people with rational thought. They are trying to refine it down to the most brain dead of cult members who are prepared to accept anything to follow these men. -

New arrangement from C.O.
by Doctor Who ini think most on here will be familiar with the caller hook up system that many congregations use.
visit about 2 months ago.
during our servant and elders meeting he was talking up the importance of meeting attendance and how we "gods spirit appointed men" must take the lead on making every meeting.

Welcome. I can assure you that once you get things together. Being on this side of it is not a bitter. Hateful. Unhappy place. It's because it's only when we revisit what imprisoned us anger comes up. And thor things may manifest. But really. I can't tell you how much happier and peaceful a person I am since breaking my mind out. When I run into things like my spouse and family acting crazy towards me. It makes me very sad. But it's part of the mechanics of the org. So I'm a not butter towards them. Or hateful. I try to be a good example of an "apostate" and hopefully some will see its not the monstrosity we've been made out to be. Again welcome -

William's sisters always get mentioned as witnesses but to my knowledge they never signed the billion year contract... So they can do what they want. Prince signed up if I am not mistaken and got dipped.
And steve2, overall I am not a huge fan of his music, a few songs are very good, as a musician myself I have great respect for him as an entertainer, and a musician who taught himself to play all those instruments and cannot read a note of music. But his musical abandon is admirable

How can they continue the FDS "prophecy" now?
by StarTrekAngel ini know there are another 100 threads probably started on this.
i can't help but to wonder how would anyone be able to defend the existence of the fds at this point.
could anyone play devils advocate?

If such a group really existed (and the bible wasn't a fairy tale), wouldn't they be evident to followers? They wouldn't have to say, "who is the FDS, Oh its us, let us keep reminding you and showing you its US".
To play devils advocate, they will use the "food at the proper time" indoctrination. Its one of the things witnesses don't question. No other group gives food at the proper time, no other group has love amongst themselves.. and so on, they never think about if that is even practical.

How do JW's know that the bible is inspired?
by cappytan inasked a friend of mine this question the other day.
here was his answer: "well, because paul said, 'all scripture is inspired of god...'".
but seriously, that argument is like saying, "the bible is inspired because it says so!

Its a never ending loop, like I see from elders and an elder in the family that want to address my doubts, "lets address your doubts about the bible...using the bible..."

If you can't dazzle them with your brilliance, baffle them with your bull $hit
by hoser ini was thinking of this when i was sitting at the kingdom hall today.
one of the paragraphs in the watchtower stated that the type/anti type teachings were too hard for some to understand.
i could never figure them out never made sense to me.

The witnesses were having a field day where I was with the bits about it not being for the intellectuals, It was getting totally out of hand like you have to be a dumbf%$k to be humble and worthy.
FINALLY one older sister with obviously half a brain put and end to it, saying intellect doesn't mean you can't be humble and worthy... she spoke of Luke, Matthew etc... to be like cool it guys, they all weren't fisherman.
Then the conductor and all the bobble headed sheep agreed almost in unison, "oh yes of course, we aren't saying that intellectual people are incapable of humility" I looked at the wife and was like "thank god (my god Zeus of course) she stopped that insanity."
Also "light getting brighter" was used throughout ad nauseam! Every time I cringed and told the wife, "they are completely misquoting that that over and over again". Afterwards she had to agree, but said "it's not in the watchtower" so blamed it... as usual.... on imperfect people....
