Is the term "worldly" outdated?
by A.proclaimer inyesterday i had to listen to the co from a spanish congregation on the phone.
he said the fds has been gradually moving away from the word "worldly" and teaching jws not to use the term anymore.
has anyone heard this in their congregation or heard the term "non-believers" used before?

In written form it was done away with sometime ago. So the official word fron a whole back was we call them "unbelievers". But still witnesses say it all the time still. The change never took. You won't likely see it in print or hear it from the stage though. -

The story of my exit
by mrsObfuscate ini have been lurking here for about 6 months, and being the last day of the year, and ready to start the new one afresh, i want to share the story of our exit from the org.
i have found the personal experiences of others of immeasurable value, (and its been a while since a good exit story has been posted) that i hope this can be of benefit to at least someone.. .
my mother became a jehovahs witness when i was about 9 or 10. i remember initially hating all of the new sanctions put on our lives (no birthdays and christmas anymore) but for some reason i soon after joined her in attending the meetings and eventually got baptized at the age of 14. my staunch catholic father converted a couple of years later.

I think under the surface it is ripening for a large change. Yes it may never go away, but something could give way that will create a decrease instead of increase. I think they have hit their apex, they are going to start heading in the other direction.
As I said earlier I think it is full of termites. You can't see it from outside but inside people are being eaten up by information, their own doubts, and the blundering nature of the org. Even if they plaster a smile on and say "its the truth!!" Its no longer sound.

Muslims Mocking ISIS Deserve Respect
by cofty inabu bakr al-baghdadi put out an audio recording on saturday calling on muslims to join the fight.
it is his first public pronouncement in over 7 months.. a number of muslims have taken to twitter to mock the self-styled caliph of the islamic state with comments like "i've got star wars on sunday, maybe later" and "would do but there's engineering work on the trains around london bridge.
soz".

I think too that humour is a hugely powerful weapon against such awful cults as Islam, and right down to the little insignificant cults like the JW's, along with disgusting political ideologies, usually very Right Wing.
I agree! Satire is a powerful weapon against religion and dumb ideas in general, but of all earth's ass-backwards religions, Islam is by far the least satire tolerant, and the apologists and moderates that use moronic words like "islamaphobe" keep it that way. You have two problems shielding Islam from getting what it deserves, Radicals & Moderates/apologists. Put something offensive to Christians on social media, no problem, put something about islam it will likely get yanked as offensive.
To illustrate cowards like obama and his cohorts want everyone to feel that burning qurans, drawing the prophet Mohammed etc.can invite backlash and win new recruits. Seems that way doesn't it? So here is what we should think about then: if so called moderates want to say terrorism has nothing to do with the Islamic religion, why does insulting it invite more terror?
The Texas 'Mohammed drawing' contest was guaranteed to draw violence and it did.
Charlie Hebdo?... we know how that went
We can make fun of Moses all day... no Hasidim is going to strap a bomb to his ass and try to blow us up
We can make jokes, sometimes extremely profane and debasing about Jesus... no one is hunting the person down to kill them.
So my point is this, one of the greatest weapons to fight the radical nature of this religion is censored especially by the moderates/apologists. You just cannot ridicule Islam!
Make fun of it and:
- Oh you are a racists!!!!
- How dare you, you islamaphobe!!!
- Shhhhh be quiet, if you tease them more will become radicalized!!!!
This is why I get so irritated at Islam and everyone wants to debate the atrocities of other religions in some sort of contest. The reality is you can make fun of them all but not Islam, and those of you that scream racism, inequality, and islamaphobia are the big problem to allowing it to be shown for what it is.

Chaos at Brooklyn Bethel 12/2016
by James Jack inthis was how it was described to me yesterday by a brother who has been there for some 40 years.
"everyone is about gone; the governing body is set to leave within 2 months; the kitchen and laundry personnel are gone and i have to fend for myself now.".
"also the aggravation of 4 to 5 business men in suits with clipboards daily checking out the watchtower properties.

Another conversation with my father
by joe134cd inthis is a conversation i had with my father when a short article on the pope came up on tv.. joe= you know i think this pope will do good things for the catholic church.
he's trying to get greater financial transparency not only for his organisation but also for religious institutions in general.
i mean the guy even chooses to drive around in a very modest car to save a dollar.. father= true.

Elders, oh my God what a bunch of losers!
by Crazyguy inok i don't mean to put all of them into just one box so to speak, their are some that are smart successful etc.
but my god most of them are just wasted space, ignorant, no drive, horrible jobs, make nothing for income and the only thing in life they have going for them is this title.
no wonder so many will not wake up and hold on to this stupid cult, it's all they have.

Ah morph. You are here though awake, that alone completely disqualifies you from this negative category lol. No doubt there is a variety if elders. And I think some regions might be worse than others. I think there are three kinds of elders. Those that eventually wake up. Those that could but hang on to the dream and the rest. "The rest" i feel might be a large number though than the other two. They are not like you my Thor worshipping friend. They are incapable of waking. -

Jephthah's atrocity
by opusdei1972 inin judges chapter 11 we read that jephthah committed an atrocity by offering his daughter in sacrifice.
however, the watchtower, study edition of april 2016, reads:pages 6 and 7:not only was jephthah a mighty warrior but he was a student of gods dealings with his people.
jephthahs thorough grasp of israels history gave him a clear picture of what was right and what was wrong in jehovahs eyes.

Doesn't the society use the proposal about her just sacrificing her right to have a family
yes they believe she sacrificed her freedom in exchange to hang out at the temple doing temple stuff ala someone who goes to work at bethel for life. But if you read it in context its saying she was sacrificed, not sent to be a templite.
Another example of witnesses making an explanation (even if they pull it out of their ass) that will support their beliefs. Not what is really in history or the dumb bible.
