If you go dress up like prom on an all day long boring sermon day to impress people..you may be a witness.
If someone tells you Merry Christmas and you just smile...thinking the whole time.."Their dead!"...you may be a witness.
If you catch yourself humming a christmas carol and quickly pray for forgivness....you may be a witness.
If you get excited at the next presidental election because the man you envisioned as being the one to yell "Peace!" got elected...you may be a witness

You might be a Witness, if ... (in the spirit of redneck jokes)
by free2beme infeel free to add on.. if you ever went to another religions funeral, and handed out watchtower publications and thought that was okay ... you might be a witness.
if you thought you were getting to old, and needed to get married as soon as possible and were only 20 ... you might be a witness.
if you remember preaching "the end is near" for over twenty years, and claim to be okay that it did not come yet ... you might be a witness.

Is is easier to just forget about religion as a whole??
by EC ini feel like i am getting bitter and that is onr thing i do not want to be...but this whole religion, god thing is gets to be too much... .
i do believe there is a creator, but have no idea what the purpose is.....i've tried the whole jesus thing, but really that doesn't make too much sence to me either....so where does that leave me???
in limbo....so i would rather just forget it all... .

Thank you so much for all of your insight....I can not tell you enough how much this site has helped me move on even if I was just lurking....:-)
I think when you spend almost 30 years, like me, going to the meetings and all the usual...and then stop...you feel somewhat backwards...like you should be doing something, but if the JW did something good for me it was never again to except something blindly...I just can't stand to listen to a church sermon on hell...its like that cake again with the roach sticking out...
I am very intrigued by other religions though...just not moved by them to do it. It is very important for me and my children to travel and see how really small we all are. I think experiencing someone eles culture is the best learning tool and I look forward to doing that now that I am able to. I remember watching a TV show with my family....the Amazing Race..and my husband said that we should do that b/c we would probably be pretty good at it, my sister(JW)was over that night and said "Yeah you would be good at it, but there is no way you could do it b/c you may have to do something in a religous ceremony(they had to shave their heads in a ceremony for one part of the race).....now I am free to do whatever I wish and would never mind doing something like that...but just don't ever see myself grabbing a hold of a certain religion anymore...ever..
As far as a creator...I grew 3 beautiful children inside of my body..there is no way that just happened...imo
Thanks again all! I truly do appreciate it! -

I have my family who are all JWs and have my hubbys family who are all Penecostals and to me neither one of them are any better...sure its a little better for my husbands b/c they can fit more in with society, holidays, etc...but they are still controlled out of fear.....
I feel like I am on the Truman Show and any day someones gonna come around and say....Just Kidding!
In so many ways I am free, but in ways I am trapped in this never ending farris wheel ride that I just can't get off of...
And what is so weird now is my children are all young and they are all looking forward to holidays and birthdays, but so much of it is silly for me...I love the way a decorated house looks at Christmas...but I can't see myself doing it...I think I would slit a gut if I had to blow out candles..
It is kinda like looking at the million dollor mansions on TV....sure you can talk all day long of how you would love one and what you would do if you could afford it, but really what would it be like if it was a reality?? Would it be all you thought??
I don't even know what to tell my kids about God anymore and how do you talk to him?? Does he listen? They want to believe something and really I do to...but religion can't offer that to me anymore..
Any church, any religion now...it is like looking at a beautiul yummy cake with a couple of cockroaches sticking out the side...I mean you can't really eat around the roaches without gagging....
Wow!! This is long....I don't post much, but needed to vent and I appreciate it! -

Ban cigarette production?
by greendawn ingiven that cigarettes are harmful to health why don't the governments shut down the factories producing them?
it's strange how they tolerate them but not marijuana.
smoking costs a lot of money to the health services of all countries, while the tobacco industries make their profits.

They will never be banned, but they defiantly should have some better laws....
I live in a non smoking state in restaurants and I think it should be like that everywhere....
Also should be banned in work places and I feel especially strong that parents that smoke in a home or car with their children should suffer consequences....There is nothing worse for me to be driving by a car full of children in the back seat and the parents puffing away in the front with the window cracked a half inch! Argggg!
With the new and most in depth study just released by the surgeon general on the effects of second hand smoke states that more than 35,000 nonsmokers a year die from heart disease caused by secondhand smoke. That is pretty sad!
And there are all other kinds of bad stuff for you, but they are self inflicting...when you sniff coke or eat bad or skydive or stay on the comp too much you are hurting yourself...smoking effects all around you and that is not fair IMO.... -

Sorry, need to moan and belly ache
by Elsewhere ini normally try not to moan and belly ache here, but today i'm really down.
the other day i was kidding and joking about being "socially-challenged", it can be fun to do this... but sometimes it catches up to me.
i spend the vast majority of my evenings and weekends alone... movies, restaurants, community events, parties, you name it.

I am a social person and can get along with virtually anyone, it is definatly not always easy.....I will suggest some great reads that I really like: How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnage and What to Say When You Talk to Yourself by Shad Helmsletter

Welcome to the nervous but clearly sweet and warm Leftbelow!
by Crumpet ini just caught a new first posting by leftbelow and wanted to be the first to welcome them and comment on how nice and unselfish their first post was (on unique1's thread).
however the listener got in first so i shall be the second!.
welcome leftbelow - don't be nervous - you are among a cool crowd who are interested in what you have to say and think.

I lurked here for over a year and a half before posting. This might sound stupid, but I remember closing my eyes, holding my breath and pushing "submit". It was very hard for me.....to always live in fear and paranoia of everything is an awful feeling. Day by day it gets better...Welcome and I hope this site can be your "therapy" while you still have to stay in. You are not alone.
