Why can't you just move on?

that's what my wife said to me the night before last.

i was making an observation about the way my family and other jws in my life are constantly trying to get me to go to a meeting or read an awake, but they never want to sit down and address the questions i have raised to them.

she then asked me why i can't just move on.

mmm its sad this situation but at least you are just wanting to set them free from lies, you care deeply for the individual and in your mind the end result of seeing them happy is what matters.

Personally i'd take as long as it was needed to help my mum, she has no idea what she is in and its like a knife in your heart when they say your just against their faith. I hope one day she leaves, no matter what i present her with she closes her eyes but yet she's willing to show me 'her evidence' which is a claim by the society backed up by the society and then just to make its standing firm and undoubtable you open the insight book.

Watchtower 68

a watchtower from 1968 (on the 2004 watchtower libary cd) is intact as it should be, and guess what the society did then...not only did they predict 1975 at a convention.

they released a book with a chart that proves that mans 6000 year reign on earth was up...then on the same cd from 1993 they claim that anyone who got the date 1975 was just very keen and read too much into the mags.

if anyone wants exact names and dates of articles e.t.c i can go upstairs and get them off the pc.

thanks legolas. Shows really that they are ashamed of their own words, surely God wouldnt put his organization in this position. It stumbles people to find the truth about the faith, so would God put people off his religion.

He makes the world spin, he created planets but he lets his organization inspired by him and controlled by christ to 'get it wrong'. mmm, Daniel never got it wrong, Jeremiah the prophet never got it wrong, and despite not all being revealed in one go, he gave them facts that would stand the trial of man and time...but his prophet today gets it wrong. LOL i am getting tired of their lies.

If you really want to help JW's leave

instead of wasting half your waking life on anti-jw websites, this is what you need to do:.

if you are not disfellowshipped or d'ad, periodically visit local congregations (eg, once a month visit a different congo).

after the meeting is over, make sure you get chatting to someone that might know you or who might approach you, preferably not an elder or ms, but rather someone that you know is a little bit 'on the fringe' of the organisation.

can you link to it in UN? Oh and can i add, coming here is not in an attempt to pull apart the JW faith, i have new friends here and judging by the membership, many things attract folks.

So I Went To Church Yesterday...

i have been playing with the idea of trying out different churches lately, just trying to keep an open mind, i notice myself thinking like a jw sometimes, thinking that no other religion is right, well whether there is a "true" religion or not i want to be able to say that at least i didn't give up after being a jw.

so i have been saying to my friends that i want to go to church, we talked about it a bit, but only one of my friends goes more than just christmas, so nothing ever came of it.

well the other day he was over for movies and i mentioned it again( it was saturday night) and he said that his parents are making him go tomorrow if i wanted to go.

i am Baptized and confirmed in Church of England now, i used to be a JW...it was hard as when i went i didn't know what to expect, really i thought it would be empty and the things jw's said would be true. It was amazing!

evidence i found on sites was apostate, on page it was wrong so in the end i had to show her the original source of information.

Need help, mum is NOW saying that all sources proving the 586 BCE date are based purely on Babylonian evidence, i know that is not true. Also she says that the amount of time the kings ruled is proving her date.

Please i am begging you all (REALLY) how do i answer both these, what other evidence other than her so called biased babylonian evidence is there? Could you get me a list of the kings in question and how long they ruled e.t.c

JW's at your door

last saturday my brother in law answered his door to a man that asked " are you worried about the environment and pollution"?

my brother in law said" yes i am " .

as they chatted for a few moments ,the man at the door reached into his briefcase case and pulled out his bible.

if anything it relates to the old 'talk about something else' and IF its a must admit your true reason, but otherwise just offer to chat, then reason from the scriptures. unfortunately people know that they are just the same thing in a different cover each time. A formula used by most householders is Person + Suit/shirt/tie and shiny shoes = JW + closed door = This conversation is officially over.

Offering Mags

remember the whole way you were trained to go on the ministry, notice how the watchtower was usually not always i accept hidden behind the awake.

so for example, we are asking people today about terrorism, and what they think the solution is...bla bla and in go both magazines and they hope that the person reads the watchtower.

can i ask, do you view this as just a small trick or deliberate dishonesty?

i think we were taught to see that as heartfelt answers, and be moved by the words but really there were armed responses to anything, including do not say you don't know the answer, say i am not 100% certain, i will look it up in our insight book.
