i have never been a jw.
i tripped over this forum whilst participating in a little harmless internet forum raiding.. i am a 48 year old man with a wealth of life experience who married a much younger woman who had been raised in a formerly devout but now mostly non-meeting attending jw family.. i have a couple of tertiary degrees in engineering and some undergraduate credits in psychology.

When Did the Strangulation Begin?
by XJW4EVR inat what point in time, do you think, that the gripping control began by the gb on the r&f?.
i realize that there had always been a control issue with the leadership at crooklyn that has been documented back to c.t.

by architect inthe lastest study article says in a nut shell that we should tell our new workmates/employer that we are a jw..for you folks who do not attend anymore or you've got out of the "theocratic routine" do you still make it know you are a jw?

Has Jehovah forgiven the WTBS for its errors and moved on?
by architect insince our god is a merciful god, can we assume by now that the gb has asked jehovah for forgiveness of its mess, miss calculations, the un thing and so forth and he's forgiven them?

Well the Governing Body didn't always have 'control' for a long time. It was the WBT President and Vice President who were in control. This changed when the Governing Body and the Presidents voted on who should be in 'control'. Read Raymond Franz book!
After this changes (maybe those you mention, dunno...i ain't old enough) will of come around and it was these ones who decided the fate of many.

Well with all these mistakes in the first place, how can they be his chosen org. Yes he may forgive the individuals responsible for messing lives up but the fact is they still have involvements in the UN stuff and still mess lives up.
You can be forgiven AFTER you stop doing the bad things and then your sorry.

Shunning and Friendship...two different things.
by gumby inthis thread is started as a result of our friend lola's thread about meeting with elders and why.. it was mentioned by our poster that many would see folly in worrying about offending the ladies that helped her and that they were not true friends since they would shun her were she dfed.. is this what many of you think?.
do you think if family or friends shun you after you are dfed or daed they are not "true friends"?.
well i totally disagree.. does a mother or father who lets their child die due to refusing a blood transfusion.....not love their child?

i've never seen it put that way before but its true. Witnesses dont try and claw us back as a punishment. they think they know what is best.

We might not see the results of this for a whole year, maybe longer. How long does it take to fade or realise what you just saw. We could of just started the journey for those who saw these cheques. Maybe they'll brush it off for a long time before they face what is going on in their head.

My dog...

if the dog is in a funny mood and wants to piss us off, he sometimes starts havin sex with his towel, while he does this he looks at you and if you go near him or the basket he growls and barks.. there was a jw here a couple of days ago, a stuck up snobby one.
she was in our kitchen drinking tea when the dog started doing the above....i was always convinced he was a jw dog but maybe...maybe he's dead against them!.

My dog used to hump visitors legs - maybe you could train yours to do that (only to snobby JW's of course!)
yeh i might just do that - teach the dog i mean! lol, pets are so funny at times. wouldn't be without ours!!
