just wanted to remind all of you who expressed interest that i will be interviewed on the radio show called every woman at 4:30 pm cst on saturday, jan 21.i will be speaking about the situation of losing my girls because he claimed i was mentally ill. although i was able to prove that my mental illness is not something that inhibits my ability to be a good mother i wound up losing my girls because the judge felt it would be in the best interst of the girls to live with him and stay in the religion they have known since birth.

I can truly appreciate your issues and enjoy your insights. I empathize with you over the losses. I would like to know what your thoughts are in the other direction- how about so many dads losing custody for the same reasons. Many have posted on this site.

My wife continues to cling to the religion and, as typical, holds even tighter when I attempt to articulate some thought-provoking reality. If we should ever part, she would likely use the stability/anchoring argument of the religion on her (and the kid's) behalf. However, I would seek to use the aforementioned "realities" to my benefit to win custody.

thank you to the posters who advised about the availability of these letters: a lone elders attempts to elicit some sense from the rigidly nonsensical watchtower's pick-and-choose blood transfusion doctrine.

the guy was probably doomed from the start, but i so admire his persistence and courage!

The further down the line from the WTS' earlier hardline approach on this issue gets, the more muddied and confused and petty their arguments and concessions become. Now, to accept any blood-related fractions or nearly any expanders, etc., is akin to just taking blood itself, as many/most derive from some fractional component of blood- kinda like sucralose, derived from sugar, can't make it without sugar, but it's not officially sugar. The point appears moot.

As with many other items, make a solid, prayerful, biblical/faith-based decision of personal conscience and move on- NOT a decision based on fear of reprisals by men or man-made pressure(s), be it donating or accepting blood directly or blood fractions. If they still choose hypocritical techniques after a decision of personal conscious has been made, call them on it- even blame it on them- and forget them. Once no longer concerned over what they'll will, wish or dictate they're truly powerless- really like preaching just to hear themselves preach.

To quote a good country song, "You've got to stand for something [particularly what you know to be right] or you'll fall for anything. You've got to be your own man- not a puppet on a string." (Aaron Tippin) It's too bad that even the WTS hasn't figured that one out. Otherwise they might have less to account for now if they had.

my mother who is a longstanding jw came to stay over the christmas period as my uncle had past away and she wanted to be more local to the family, that way she could attend the funeral and provide some support to her remaining brothers and sisters.

she lives a considerable distance away from me at this moment in time.

Regarding the info. on Joseph and embalming, very interesting. I had not known that heretofore. I agree with your statement about how Jehovah may see it. Nonetheless, can it truly be said that practically anything we do worship-wise may be acceptable to Him, contingent upon our intent? It seems that, Old Testament, New Testament or All Testament would indicate some clear lines drawn, and standards expected. The Apostle Paul was quite clear on many occasions, despite alluding to our being non-judgemental, as well as the great grace and mercy of God and Christ.

Can one possibly say the Way is and was meant to be a spiritual jumbalaya? (I mean not to infer any expertise in Cajun cuisine.)

LOL. I recall scrutinizing EVERYTHING- playing cards, wedding rings, neckties, etc.

I should have put my moniker as "the seeker", because that's exactly where I'm at (and been) right now, but I'm a proud hillbilly just the same.

Honesty- apparently I touched a nerve with you, despite my intentions to the contrary. I definitely don't require an expository regarding the defintion of christmas. As for the "worship" Christ statement yes, I do have some problem with that, as he himself would have instructed us to worship his/our/the Father.

Perhaps I misunderstood your intent. I see you're from Tennessee. Nice. I used to live in/around Memphis and Clarksville.

BTW, should anyone care to wonder, as with the apostles, I do acknowledge and accept Christ Jesus as my Lord and personal savior, for it is an absolute scriptural teaching and requirement for continued forgiveness and salvation- two things I need and desire in ultra-abundance.

Thanks for the replies. I have come to appreciate this site. Those scrips are some of those I myself use.

I expected to be viewed as a "judger" despite my disclaimer. At this point, I am all for anybody judging for themselves what's acceptable- far be it from me to impose or presume or necessarily even care, whether I agree or not- so long as it's legal and doesn't harm a soul. It's just highly confusing and/or perplexing at times for me, particularly in light of historical facts regarding the origin of such things and same scriptural admonitions about the degree of cleanliness of true worship. I'm just hoping for some perspective.

I'll admit that recently my very close, beloved and depressed DF'd older sister (lives in down in south FL) confided that she, wanting to boost her spirits, celebrated christmas of sorts this year and, without questioning or judging her in any way, I simply acknowledged it and felt comforted knowing that it made her feel better.

P.S. Forgive my ignorance, as I'm the least computer-clued guy, but how exactly do you get the selected white box/statement selection, especially with yellow highlighting, to appear? Simple cut & paste? Thanks.

Hello. I'm quite new but have been perusing this site for months. I'm certainly not here to judge (one of my probs w/ WT), but will someone please explain to me why it seems many here go running to beliefs and practices that are hardly improved over the WT (e.g., celebrating christmas)? The only explanation I can figure is that such individuals aren't necessarily interested in Christian truth, only reacting like the tightly coiled spring suddenly sprung, doing whatever. ???
