Too many to count, really. One sister was convinced that the dinosaurs were a lie told by evolutionists to draw people away from the "Truth".....uh.....yea.
Sad, but what more can be expected from people admonished not to have any independent thinking, not obtain any higher education than is absolutely proscribed by law, and not to read (remember, the reading of many books is "foolishness"....)

does anyone else find themselves embarrassed about their jw past?
i find that when people that know what i used to be ask me about it i am completely embarrassed by how foolish their beliefs sound especially things like the blood issue.
i can't stand when someone will say "why did you believe such and such....?
Am I embarassed? Very!! My mother-in-law went to her grave not knowing that I'd been a JW. I always tell everyone I was raised evangelical Christian. I'm trying to get over this. Everyone I do finally end up telling always asks: Did you go door to door selling magazines eeeeeewwwww!
No one I tell can believe I came from such a background--I'm very very different; then again, I was back in my JW days too; never fit in. I even have to tell myself that I was never meant to be a witness, it was some cosmic fluke! But in my attempt to become a whole person, I am trying to get over this and be more open with people about my past and integrate it fully into the present; reminding myself that it made me who I am and I very much like who I am.

as you can see i am still a newbie and it looks to me like most of you are either die-hard christians or atheists.
so i was wondering if some of you had become animists, polytheists or had converted to another sort of paganism.

i wrote a letter to some personal friends in the congregation and enclosed the letter from the un.
i also wrote a short disassociation letter to four elders and enclosed the un letter as well.
i delivered them to the mailboxes and also mailed a couple.

Thank you so much for the tip! I noticed on my map that San Marcos would not be too far to get some excellent bbq. If time permits, I would love to meet you and your girlfriend. This trip is 65% business, so when I'm not at the fest, I will be pretty busy, but you never know. Maybe I'll even stay an extra day.
