Doesn't make me feel uneasy but it will make me feel them out a little. I am friends with a few in my area that are definately on the fringe of "the truth." A few that i can speak my mind to though not completely. A few that pretty much have decided to believe what they want and stay in the truth for their families or their history. They are out there.

What weird things have you read in the bible?
by stillAwitness inthe fact that nimrod's name means: "he stirred up the whole earth to rebel"
and yet ezra's name means: "help"
what caused nimord's mother to name him something that had such a negative meaning and yet he turned out to be just that?

Joel 3:10 - 10 Beat YOUR plowshares into swords and YOUR pruning shears into lances. As for the weak one, let him say: “I am a powerful man.”
Also there was one that i can't find the scripture.. But it was something to the effect of.. "And they must ask you where did you get those wounds on your body between your hands, and you must answer they were inflicted upon me in the house of my intense lover."

speed reading - what's the technique?
by Spectrum inthere is so much good stuff on this forum to read and not so much time to read it all.
i once knew a girl that could read a page from a novel in about 15 seconds and understand it.
i had a teacher who could read a page by looking at the centre of the sentence and somehow absorb the words on either side and just go down the page at lighting speed.

I agree with the genetic disposition idea. My whole family can speed read and retain the information very well. I don't think i could win any contests... Part of it for me is the visual effects; I recognize the shapes of the words instead of reading the words. My brain does the processing in the background.

Man COURT ORDERED to attend K-Hall meetings!!
by DannyHaszard inenquirer photo .
brett haines, right, and his attorney at his sentencing by judge william mallory.
[courts sentence drunk drivers to aa (alcoholic anonymous) meetings and use the same protocol having a 'court paper' signed by the meeting's chairperson.many drunks will become full fledged aa 12 step followers and will praise the court action that introduced them to the 'program'.it appears this man's sentence is modeled after the same idea.

Hmm... a drunk and a racist.. All he needs to do is molest a child, and blow the CO, and they will appoint him.

by ColdRedRain insomething i got off the myspace.com jw group.

i wanted to mention, to all active jehovah's witnesses, that a brother has called to my attention that he is being harassed by apostates.

I think him saying that he warning us to protect ourselves while at the same time telling us to carry our own load is a pretty classic double think..

Does 2 Samuel 12:15 show the god of the Bible to be a god of justice?
by scout575 inafter king david commits adulery with bathaheba and arranges for her husband uriah to be killed in battle, does god execute the death penalty on david as prescribed by the mosaic law for adulterers?
( deut 22:22 ) no.
rather than executing david, what punishment does god mete out?

I have never understood Jah's "relationship" with David. Besides killing bathsheba's hubby, he also acted sacreligously and commited adultry. Also there are hints of a homosexual relationship with jonathan. And yet Jah constantly asks the kings after him "Why can't you be like my servant david??"
Makes no sense.

I was thinking along the lines of oweing someone a lot of money and asking them for a loan. In fact go to a meeting and ask everyone you see for money.. Suddenly no one will miss you.

Check out snopes.com under "dropped chalk myths." These stories are all written the same and reflect the mentality of a six year old girl. If it was all really so simple then no one would argue it. I would ask suzie if she's see's all the babies god killed.

Please help! I have NO idea what to do with this!
by Elsewhere inat work we are supposed to setup "goals" for a "performance review" later in the year.
i *hate* things like this because i don't understand what i'm supposed to put in the document.
it is far too subjective with no defined requirements that i can wrap my brain around.

My only hint is try to keep them vauge. If you write increase performance by 100% and then in your review you haven't done that then you look like you're not meeting your goals. But if you are nice and vauge like "increase my effectiveness through quality." Then usually it is something that can't be confirmed. (i know it's BS but so is the whole program)
