  I do tech support on relatively simple electro-mechanical vending machines. Problem is that you have to talk to people that can't figure out relatively simple electro-mechanical vending machines. But that doesn't bother me too much, i can be patient when working with the mentally challanged. What gets me is when people don't listen, you called me for help listen to what i have to say and we can both get on with our day. It doesn't bother me when people correct my spelling, it is often off the mark. But don't pretend for a moment that because you bother with spelling correctly that you are somehow better than me. Otherwise i am mostly tolerant and patient.

  Oh also people that are rude to waiters go straight to hell. I know i don't believe in God or Hell, but there is a hell for people that are rude to waiters. And i am satan there.

  it's really good to read stories of other people that have experienced some of the same things i have.

  i haven't ever posted or even talked to another ex-jw except for my uncle who i have just recently started a relationship with.

  the sad thing is that i am 30 years old and i am still struggling with the past....i'm soo sick of it.

  computer works best when not running ?!?

  even for the crazy world of quantum mechanics, this one is twisted.

  a quantum computer program has produced an answer without actually running.. ...... this scheme could have an advantage over straightforward quantum computing.

  hello, have not posted in quite some time.

  i put up some st. patrick's decorations at work, including one of those demonized little leprechauns, and enjoyed the look of a jw i work with when she came into the office this morning.

  you know the look of pretending they didn't notice those evil holiday decorations?

  Ice in Your Drink?

  after reading the article entitled "fast food ice dirtier than toilet water.

  seventh grader's science project turns up some disturbing results," you might have second thoughts about drinking anything with ice in it at restaurants, etc.

  it's pretty disgusting, i think.

  Not everyone's immune system is great. That is the problem. Elderly, children, people with other health problems--all are at serious risk when it comes to food poisoning.

  True true.. I think all of us are in the habit to think about how the news affects us personally. Certianly someone with an immune disorder like chronic fatigue or Ebstieen (sp?)_ Bar would have to be more careful. Also the elderly and tykes.

  Are children better off believing in some form of faith?

  as you know, my husband dave (aka almostatheist) is atheist.

  my son came up to me last night and declared that he "doesn't" believe in any kind of higher power.

  being eclectic pagan...this bothered me because i know for me, if i didn't have any kind of "faith", i'd be crushed.

  Where do you get that "power". That motivation to go on?

  I am "almost an atheist" myself. That power comes from me. I am directly responsible for everything that happens in my life. My attitude about what happens in my life, and how i choose to react. I also am rather unemotional i can choose which emotions i let affect me. I choose not to be afraid.

  no shock value here - they just mentioned that many bethelites have already received their new assignment.

  also, that some got assigned to special pioneering (have fun guys!!!

  ) one said that ralph walls gave a talk to the brothers to remain focused on their work.

  It always makes me cringe when i hear a young one talking about applying to bethel. This makes it more so. I know they won't be accepted. And they will think it's god's direction. It will crush them.

  A little germs and dirt is good for you, builds your immune system up. I've never gotten sick from ice before and until i do i am not going to freak out about it. Also i have never washed the bowl of my pipe, just scraped away some cake. (makes it taste better) Also i have never washed my teapot. Makes the tea taste better.

  Did you know of any "Reproved" JWs that were "shunned" as if they were DF'd

  i remember years ago a "sister" (i'll call her "betty") had transferred into our congregation from another congo.

  apparently she had been put on public reproof at her old hall.

  but when she started attended my kh most of the witnesses there "shunned" her to the point when the presiding overseer had to make an annoucement to the congo that went like this "some of you friends are treating sister betty as if she is a disfellowshipped person.

  Public reproof = a marking but someone could be marked without being on public reproof. If the elders decide that something someone is doing say drinking coffee is wrong and want to warn others about drinking coffee but can't find scriptual reason to punish them offically they can have a marking talk. Basicly a local needs talk on why drinking coffee is evil and why ascociating with someone who does would be equally evil. Of course everyone knows that Br. useshisgodgivenfreewill drinks coffee and they unoffically shun him.
