Was you ever an attendent or had an attendent in the family?
by jayhawk1 ini got to thinking about the conventions and such today.
here is a guy... always a guy who is in charge of a section of seating.
his job is to get up every so often and count people.

also, there was nothing that represented the disorganization more than being an attendant. usually when we gathered for a cleaning assignment nobody knew what was supposed to be done. we stood around for about a half hour before someone told us what to do and then they were usualy belittled by the instructions of someone else higher in the chain of command. nobody knew what they were supposed to do. i hated volunteering because of that. of course there were others who thought they knew everything about the volunteering project but realy just wanted to be big shot and tell people what to do.

Kingdom Hall Duties
by KW13 ini remember even though i was young, i was 'mature' and i got the priv.
of doing microphones on certain occasions, helped the brother doing carpark e.t.c.
i used to hate mic's at our hall, they had cable attached so you were always tripping over this huge cable, or a sister would have it in her hand, then pull it, so you'd end up with this thing around your legs, basically attaching you to her.

yeay most of the sisters cleaned the bathrooms, they had the attitude like it was their speciality and they jumped on it. i hated mics too. if it was one of those long sister comments and they wouldn't hold the mic i would wave it around their mouths almost hitting them in the mouth with it until they grabbed it for me.

yes i was several times. a lot of the above mentioned feelings. there were a lot of jerk kids who would mess with you while i was standing up with the "please be seated" signs. i felt like a cop and i didn't like that. most people just ignored us. a lot of the brothers did have a high and mighty attitude, especialy the parking lot attendants. they were mostly of the ghetto attitudes and bossed people around the parking lots. i always hated those guys, especialy when there were young kids yelling "walk in da line walk in da line". im glad i dont go to those anymore, i don't miss all that crap.

VERY interesting. adam and eve in a different light. it actualy makes more sence than the j-dub teachings that cain grabbed one of his sisters and ran off creating the land of nod. i guess there was no specific remarks on the others in the bible because they were not worshipers of J-god. the bible only focuses on j-god worshippers.

Double Standards
by seek2find inhi all, i've been thinking a lot lately about the chapter in coc where ray is talking about double standards and was wondering how many exist in the organization today.
one, that i've noticed is that employment issues seemed to be addressed differently depending on which congergation you are in.
for instance, in a congregation in one city, a brother might be removed from a position if he goes to work for a fire department or ems service because the shift work would require missing to many meetings, where as in another congergation you may have a respected elder that has such employment and everything is cool.

yes, certain charasmatic elders certainly have an influence over what happens in the cong. i've heard stories of manatowoc cong. letting their elder kids get off on fornication charges because of their dad's position. one family that came to our cong. from ohio (im in wisconsin) was amazed at how witness kids could go to rock concerts in wisconsin without being df'd. that and drinking was not allowed in ohio (they lived in a dry county). also, drinking beer would not be allowed in certain cong. and was in other ones during witness gatherings. wow, that work gathering just sounds cultish!

i hear ya lonely sheep. as a child growing up in the J-dubs i always told people that i believed in god. the truth is that i never believed in god. i was just trying to believe because i thought it was the right thing to do and i wanted to be a good person. also, i thought that no one would love me if they knew i didn't believe. when i was in my early 20's i was at a door by myself and a man asked me why i was preaching and why i believed in god in the first place. i was upset with myself that i couldn't answer him thruthfully. realizing that i had been atheist all my life is what made me eventualy dissasociate myself. it wasn't until about 6 months after that that i realized via this web sight all the other juicy stuff there was to know about the JWs.

Article about HIV
by Moomin induring one of my book studies, the subject of hiv came up.
i was told that if a brother or sister was infected with the virus then they should humbly accept the fact that some people may not want them in their homes.
so anyone with the virus will be able to attend meetings at the kh but not the book study or any social gatherings.

another thought from the swimming pool baptism incident. aids would die very very fast in that cold water. it needs warmth, and the chlorine would definately kill it asap. it is out of stupidity and ignorance that the witnesses didn't want her in the same swimming pool. another way the society and elders screw up the minds and emotions of their followers. there are only certain bodily fluids that can be used to transmit aids. it doesn't surprise me that the elders were so stupid and ignorant as to deny a person baptism with the rest because of a disease that is nearly impossible to catch through normal interactions.
