When Mt St. Helens blew there were ashes coming down on our home and we live 1000 miles away. I can't imagine a bigger explosion.

Stacy, you aren't old enough to remember that.

I live about 45 miles southwest of her and you don't know how thankful I was it blew out on the other side, away from us. I've gone up there numerous times now, since it's opened up to the public again, for an $8.00 fee. Funny thing is, where they left the lands alone and not managed it, it's regrowing faster.

As far as the bulge in Yellowstone Lake, remind me not to go fishing there anytime soon. Seeing Mt St Helens close up was enough for me.

As far as the Beatles go, yes, Sgt. Peppers was very good as was Revolver, but I much prefer the second side of Abbey Road myself.

Well, I did throw 2 out of my house. The next week, I got a certified letter inviting me to a Judicial Hearing. I answered it with 3 pages of quotes from various pubs and they let it drop, especially after I threatened them with legal proceedings if the persisted. A year later, I DA'd and a few months afterwards, divorced the dub wife.

Did it feel good? At the time, I was so pissed it had me shaking. Slammed my door so hard after them it jammed shut. Today, I laugh about it.

I agree that if anything, the US news media is heavily biased towards the conservatives (esp Fox !)

Is that why only Foxnews reports on the memo's coming from the Democratic side of Congress showing their strategy for unseating Bush, going against all rules of ethics, while mainstream media ripped into the memo from Rumsfeld? Hardly sounds like Conservative bias to me.

Perhaps you can explain why mainstream media has not reported on the bi-partisan visit to Iraq where even some Democrats returned and stated the media isn't reporting both sides of what is going on there? Again, I hardly see these two examples as Conservative B**s.

If a mega Billionare such as George Storos started a private campaign to unseat any Democrat, by whatever means possible, would mainstream media barely report that? They rightfully dug and kept digging at Nixon back in '73 and '74 until the full story came out. During Clinton scandals, we mostly heard how bad Ken Starr was for looking.

Even when I posted an article from a UK news source, the Telegraph, you came in saying how b**sed it was. I find it odd that any news favorable to Bush is considered b**sed and unworthy of print and anything negative, regardless of how ludicrous, is accepted as factual and honest.

A post was made with an article which you yourself declared was just "military-cult political bullshit" but how many negative articles have been let stand openly? The b**s is there, whether you believe it to be balloney or not.

when most "newbies" find this site, they are thrilled to be able to express themselves in a way that they could never in a kingdom hall.

A true leader leads, regardless of popularity, not flop about waiting for polls to follow to maintain popularity and let the country go to pot.

Even with that, many miss the obvious spin of the title of the article this thread is based upon. No one is ever going to please everyone, but if only one third believe him to be stupid, 66%, 2/3, or two out of three don't feel he is stupid. When I took math courses in school, although a long time ago, that was a majority. Majority votes is what wins elections. Focusing on the minority opinion is simply a spin to make it appear worse and try to win fence straddlers over.

And many say the media isn't biased?

ya know...if i insult someone...i generally don't mean it...and i usually apologize for it....the topics that got me in trouble are ones i feel very strongly about.

people i know are in harms way...being shot at...and dying...many here would say there's no meaning to those deaths...which takes the heart out of a soldier and makes it harder for them to concentrate and stay out of harms way.

for those of us missing our daily fix (opps, better not use that word anymore) of rush limbaugh, it was announced on his show thursday that he will be sober enough to return to the air on monday the 17th of november.

i'm buying my popcorn now and want to get a good seat.

Phantom, my opening statement about the left above was intended as a broad statement, primarily at who wrote the original story you posted. My apologies if it seemed directed at you. Rush Limbaugh is not a popular person with those of the left, even though he enjoys the single largest audience in the US currently, on radio. I myself don't agree with everything he says.

However, like him or hate him, to publish articles as the one you presented I see as sensationalism by the media. Had they dug a little bit instead of just printing allegations, they would have seen there was really nothing to the story.

I have noticed for several years now that when mainstream media takes a disliking to someone, any and everything they can find will be all over the front pages. If someone they like, the stories and allegations are reserved for further back or just glossed over with minimal coverage. I don't know if you remember the Reagan years, but everytime Reagan made a speech, it seemed to have been followed by Sam Donaldson telling us what he really said and meant, as if the audience couldn't decipher it for themselves.
