Whether our clothing is old or new, we can be neat and clean so that when we give a witness people will pay attention to the message, not to our appearance.

We must never promote the debased thinking and conduct that is popularized by the world. Our concern is not whether a certain style is extremely fashionable but whether it is appropriate for one professing to be a minister of God.

Hmmm. Does this rule out thongs and bikini panties now? How about us brothers? Is it to be boxers or briefs? I wonder if the GB even wears underwear? Maybe they all wear lace panties under their "elegant" suits?

Running into JWS

i ran into a jw couple last night at wal-mart, when i saw them i thought damn, i wish i would have seen them before they saw me.

but anyway we talked for a few minutes, and i was trying real hard to think of a reason to get out of there.

as i talked to him, i could tell he was dying to ask me, why i stopped going to the kingdom hall.

For me, it depends on what JW I run into. The avergae rank and file JW I smile and say hi too. Most just ignore me as they know I am DA'd. Whether or not they ignore me, I still greet them if I get a chance.

As for a couple elders I knew, I wouldn't greet them if my life depended on it.

Since the dub wife and I separated, no JWs come by the house at all. Therefore, I don't have to confront them anymore with their rudeness towards me in my home.

In the long run, I feel very sorry for most dubs. They excuse downright rudeness as God's will. How sad when Jesus told everyone to love each other.

Reasons why we hate JW's (as an org)

my first reason is the fact that i was being controlled through the jw social structure, and having to fight to do anything....even whether to wear a tie or not.

the preoccupation with appearance was so debilitating; that was all i was ever concerned with.

and, as i'm not attractive, good in sports, or a conformist, i had very few friends.

There is no control over every aspect of living.

Sorry, Xenu, but there is every effort to do just that. Individual eldes that should be DF'd are left in charge of congregations and exert their power over them. I was told that it the internet was PROHIBITED. When I challeneged that statement by demadming to see the article prohibiting it, the reply was, "You have to read between the lines to properly understand the Watchtower!" How can that be Pure Language? When reading between the lines, every person will get a different message.

Why do the JWs disfellowship married couples, or at least one spouse, for enaging in oral, anal, or other sexual matters? What business is it of an elder body if a couple wishes to enage in such practices? There have been many couple willfully engaging in and enjoying such things, until the JWs convinced them it was entirely wrong. Then, the couple needs to appear before a Judical Committee of dirty old men who need to hear every little minute detail of ones private sex life? Doesn't that make the memebers of the committee perverts? Shouldn't they be able to decide how rotten a person is without all the exact details? Such as, how deep did the penis go in the mouth? Was orgasm reached? what position were you in? So on, so on, and so on. Then, as the old lechers are sitting their getting erections and drooling out of the corner of their mouths, they decide, on their own but claiming it is God deciding, that the couple who enjoyed pleasing and satisfying each other in their marriage are no longer worthy of Jehovah's love?

Since there are all these strict rules to follow to disfellowship someone, why is it all kept in a secret manual that only the elders receive and the rank and file don't get to hear about until such time as they being booted out?

And, while we are at it, who are they to add to scriptures as to why a person should be shunned? In reality, their entire policy oif shunning is unscriptural as the early Christians did not shun but treated those who broke the few actual rules as "a man of the nations." Now, if that means shunning, then the entire JW stance of kocking on doors and preaching to everyone is a fallacy, as it is "men of the nations" that you go and preach to!

While I can agree that under certain circumstances, not reciving blood can be beneficial, isn't that a matter best left between a patient and their doctor? Who are untrained window washers and janitors to instruct a doctor on medical procedures? And, to deem a person as no longer worthy of God's love becuase they choose to keep their child alive by allowing them to accept blood in an extreme emergency, is not control?

If all the above and the previous posts are not showing control, then I don't what it is.

Problems in all religions

something happened at my church today that i wanted to share with you all.

the church i attend now is quite large.

1800+ members, as well as hundreds of other regular attenders.

I agree with you, Dawn. Rules need to be flexible and not always held to so rigidly. Exceptions need to be made, especially where parents and children are concerned. Parents should not have to undergo background checks to be with their own children. That is ludicrous. I would think a background check for someone left alone with small children is what would be required.

We get so wrapped up in rules sometimes, that we forget why they were made and the result is what matters, not the rule itself.

What you mention is pretty much why I no longer believe in religion, but only the Bible. All religions are man-made and all fall short, in my opinion. I hope they handle the situation delicately and with love and humility.

Not quite accurate, Met. If no men are available, a woman can assume the leadership role until qualified men are available. Of course, they would need to wear head coverings. This is mentioned on page 77, 78 of the OAM book, under newer and small congregations.

who viciously attack the teachings and beliefs of their resigned religion?.

i was thinking of this last night....i have never in my life seen a movement so big as the apostates against jw's..... no other religion has displayed this....usually people just quietly leave and get on with their lives and there is no anomosity...even if they have been wronged by their religion.... but with jw's it's different...it's an all out and out attack on anyone and everyone who has something positive to say.... makes me believe the bible and the jw's even more...being here is setting the doubt in my mind right....

Hi Vi. I grew up in the Assembly of God and we were regularly treated to sermons demonizing Catholics. Since they are an off-shoot of Pentecostal, they can get pretty radical. Of course, any that were not of the Protestants were doomed to fiery hell for eternity. All of this is one reason I no longer believe in religion, but try to learn of God and His will on my own. All the religions attacking each other is insanity and has caused much bloodshed over the centuries.

Like I have said before, I agree with a lot of JW beliefs, but not all. What I disliked was their propensity of arrogance, but that is apparent in all religions. I still think they all pay too little attention to John 13:34, 35. That, and the way they go about shunning others, just for deciding to no longer belong to the group. That goes well beyond scripture.

Does that make me an apostate? Apparently so. Yet I do not attack their beliefs. Just their lack of love.
