  Balls of Steel or just plain stupidity ???

  the news just came on with a "special report" and my husband looked at me and said, "uh oh what now??

  " the newscaster came on.. "president bush in a operation that outdone the cia in secrecy..blah blah blah".

  bottom line... the president flew into iraq to spend thanksgiving with the troops.

  Six, if you're in the National Guard, you are not dodging the draft. You are actually in the military and subject to be called up to active duty at any time. That his unit wasn't activated and deployed to Vietnam is not his call, unlike another who actively protested the US and is believed to have burned the flag on foreign soil.

  Did anyone else get completely iritated when he wore that flight suit a while back?

  As a matter of fact, benji, I was rather proud of him. Flying a jet aircraft isn't exactly child's play, especially the fighter jets of the time. Active duty or reserves, flying fighter jets takes a lot of nerve, skill and training.

  I read an article earlier this week touting that Hillary was scheduled to go to Iraq and Afghanistan today too. Bet she's really pissed now, LOL.

  It was a good and gutsy move for Bush to do. However, he isn't the first. Even Clinton dropped in on Kosovo and there wasn't half the danger involved there. Nixon and Johnson both visited Vietnam, 1969 and 1967. Other Presidents have also visited troops in the field and it does help morale, especially when he can identify with them.

  The political desparation will be those that try to bash Bush for doing exactly what many other Presidents have done, visit with those he has had to place in harm's way.

  Good move, George, I hope Hillary is fuming right now.

  What to do about a bully?

  there is a bully in my life currently who wants to bully me and others who i know.

  knowing that people say you should stand up to a bully, i did just that, and told him"where to go".

  he backed off me, but has moved on to others i know who perhaps don't want to have the hassle of a confrontation with him, or don't feel able to confront him.

  From my own experiences, most bullies are more cowards than anything. Eventually, standing up to them is the only way to stop their misconduct. Yes, there's always the chance that you can get your butt kicked, but aren't you already getting that anyway? Even if you do get hit back (literal as well as verbal) often the bully moves on as the last thing they want is for you to confront them. They prey on fear and when confronted, will often back down, even if they express strong words.

  If they move on to others, about all you can do is encourage the other to stand up to them too. Even if you stand alongside of them, they need to do it thmselves. Otherwise, the bully just sees it as the person won't stand up for themselves and may bully even worse when you aren't around.

  Kind of sounds like what is happening (although on a much larger scale) in Iraq and Afghanistan, doesn't it?

  Do you believe in Soul Mates?

  how many here believe that we all have a soulmate somewhere in this world that is especially for us, or do you believe that the person we happen to fall in love with becomes our soul mate?

  I don't really know if there is such a thing as a "soul mate," but if there is, I found it in Witchywoman. From the very first time we met, I just had a feeling of being where I was supposed to be. It goes well beyond just being comfortable and is hard to express, but when we are together, I feel complete.

  She flies in tomorrow afternoon for a few days. Whether her or me getting back on a plane, it's hard to do. Neither of us wants the other to go. If that would be a soul mate then she's the one.

  For the most reviled and hated President in modern history, isn't it amazing his approval rating has never dipped to the level of his predecessor, supposedly the most loved and respected in modern history?

  All this shows me is the hatred from the left and the loathing of not being the controlling power will induce them to say anything at all. Even to referring to minority judicial candidates as "neanderthals." Bet if Bush called a minority person such, there would be a lynching party on the White House lawn.

  Thanksgiving in the Military

  i currently have a friend serving over in afghanistan.

  he sent me a letter for thanksgiving today and i thought it really puts things in to perspective.

  i thought i'd drop you a line and wish you a happy thanksgiving.. thought i'd share some of the things i am thankful for and what i would say if i was back in the states about to carve a turkey;.

  Chevy, I also care and appreciate your friend more than I can express. Having spent a couple Thanksgiving myself in a place like that, I know full well what your friend feels.

  Regardless of what our view of the war is, our people there deserve all of our support for fighting for what they believe in, the world's freedom.

  Thank you for sharing that with all of us.

  Scratch the black pudding and substitue grits. Now, that would be worth it
