friggin, I say this meaning nothing personal (as I don't know you personally), but having sex with this girl (or any girl) might just be the slap right upside your stupid head that you've been needing.

To new Christians on JWN
by brotherdan ini wanted to make a few comments to those of you that have recently begun to question or have already left the wt and made their way onto this site.
this site is a great resource to learn how others are coping with leaving the organization and moving on into a fulfilling life.. i wanted to write this post because i think reading something like this would've been helpful to me to understand where a lot of people that comment on this site are coming from.
you are going to hear from a wide range of people that have moved on to a diverse range of beliefs.

I was gonna say that Christianity is the Special Olympics of religion, but I don't really know enough about other religions to make that judgement. I'll have to get back to you on that.

1975 - Lest We Forget
by GetBusyLiving ini find the topic of the 1975 end of the world scenario facinating, especially since i never lived through it.
do you old schoolers ever feel concerned that people will one day forget about what really went down?
with whitewashed tripe like the 'proclaimers' book informing dubs that it was just the false expectations of over enthusiastic apostates, are you at all concerned that the legacy of bullshit that is 1975 will be a forgotten moment in history blamed on you instead where the blame really belongs?

I was a young teen in '75. My only concern was, would the big A come before I could ever get laid? (This was back in the days before girls was so easy.)
Eventually, I got laid. But I bet Fred Frazn never did.

dealing with a lack of spirituality
by man in black inhow do you deal with the thought of god after leaving the wts ?.
i left two years ago, and i have always had a certain amount or "need" for a spiritual side of my life.. growing up catholic was good, when my parents became jw's suddenly everything/religion that was not bound together with the.
wt society and their teachings was completley wrong.. so now that i have left, i have a hard time trying to understand different religions.

Podobear, I'm saying drop the quest for spirituality, it's a fool's errand. "Spirit" is an out-dated concept, mojo voodoo. Celebrate your humanity. You are human. Be kind to other humans (and animals, while you're at it).

Is "The Truth" Killing You, Lurkers?
by metatron inas an elder of many years, i was continually struck with the abundance of chronically ill witnesses whose disease appeared to be related to their own stress at trying to meet the endless demands of the "truth".
i am not a medical professional but i don't need to be a doctor to know that the depression and virtual self loathing ('i'm not good enough, i must do more, i'm a bad parent....") sets a stage for ill health.. and now science backs up that conclusion:.

As a child, I remember a married sister (husband was an elder), mother of two, giving a talk on the Ministry School one Thursday night. She literally had a nervous breakdown right there on the platform. "I just can't do this," she finally said, and left the platform. No one batted an eye. The show must go on. All these years later, that sister (quite elderly now), is still in the borg, still waiting on Jehovah.
My brother married a girl whose family was strong in the borg. The whole lot of them were bonkers. If they weren't on their meds they were bouncing off the walls.
I don't think I ever knew one single "normal" Witness, and only one or two that were genuine Christians.
Living a double life was the only thing that saved me.
[I should change my user name to Holden Caulfield.]

The fundamental flaw with the WTBTS as "God's Organization"?
by Essan inthere are countless issues that people have with the society and which together have led to many people realizing that it is not what it claims and pretends to be.
these include things like the secret un affiliation, contradictory and hypocritical stances, (malawi vs mexico vs un/ngo), the ever changing blood policy and ever changing doctrine, failed predictions for armageddon etc, etc, etc.. but what is the consensus about what the fundamental flaw is?.
what i mean is, many jw's hear about these various issues and manage to make endless excuses for them, even though this involves gross hypocrisy and excusing the society for things they would never excuse in other religions and which the society itself has ruthless condemned other religions for over almost 100 years.

What ex-witness said. The fundamental flaw is the belief that there is a creator god somewhere who cares about our well-being and has communicated his directions to us via holy text. It is absurd and laughable.
Someone once said, and I think I've repeated here before, that Science is the search for truth and Religion is the search for comfort. Just thought I'd repeat it again.
