Aust= Missionary Quits!! Watchtower wants his "English Teacher" wages???

a brother from the 1st ministerial training school in australia, quit his missionary assignment in asia.

the society had to send him in as an english teacher otherwise missionaries are not given visa's.

so on assignment he had to teach english part-time for a small wage.

jehovahs witnesses are taught that it is ok to lie, if it in someway helps to support their organization, or helps to deflect criticism of it.. .

jehovah's witnesses are known to give appearances that they are normal, just like the average american.

I was a good friend of a Mormon family when I was first attending meetings of JW's in Prescott, Arizona. (1961)

I did get a pretty good pitch of Mormon doctrine and teachings for several months. I always noted the difference between the two, Mormons had a gym for the kids and games and a real good youth program, while at the jw's wouldn't even have a park bence for a lunch break at the KH.

I have met nice mormons, but one of the lyingest, cheatingist people that I know is a mormon elder in Draper Utah.

I have read a large part of the book of mormon, and at one time I could use it in service to disprove the claim that the mormons made tha the BM does not contradict the Bible.

Thats about all I know.

New Generation Understanding

hello everyone, i am new here and newly freed from the snare of wtbs.

my sister, also newly freed, said our mom told her at the annual meeting there was a new "understanding" on the generation confusion.

it is now the annointed that will not pass away.. has anyone else heard this?

It would be nice if that were true, and I am sure it is in a few cases.

I myself in the 70's said that if they ever altered the teaching on 1914 that I would leave. By the change in 95 on the 'generation' they did just that. It still took the UN deal for me to leave, but I do remember the day that I got that 95 WT and read the generation change. I was so mad I couldn't see straight. I was cussing and carrying on, boy was I pissed.

The hold they had on us and still have on others seems in most cases to supercede logic. Most witnesses are so dissonant that they have successfully separated their lives and views from the company line, and just the other day one of them told me, "If I don't agree with a teaching, I just reject it. No one is going to tell me what to believe". Yet that person is still fully ensconced in the jw ideology, thinking she is a free spirit.

I have a son that is at least an MS, (he won't talk to us anymore) and he damn well knows all of these bullshit changes and yet, chooses them over us.

The jw mindset is hard to penetrate.

They have the same kind of brain washing sessions that jw's have.

The Bible study, the charts, and the weeks and months to convert.

They are another cult, probably as bad or worse than jw's. Only thing different is they are smarter, they send their kids to college so that they can tithe with more money.

Avoid them like you would any cult.

I need some advice...my first post!

i've been around for awhile, but never registered for fear of giving my personal information (yes, that's how much the borg scares me.

i was raised in the org, and left when i was 18. i realized that every religion firmly believed that they were correct, and that forced me to re-evaluate the religion on its merits, as opposed to my insistent belief.

needless to say, i saw the man behind the curtain.

they buy land,build huge homes,live there,and sell 2 years later.

Just finished C of C last night

it took me a while to get thru this book and some of the print was really unclear to make out.

what struck me was the absolute mean spiritedness of the borg toward these brothers who gave their whole lives to the borg.

it also reinforces my experience that once they "make a decision" they will not be disuaded by biblical facts.

I imagine they make a little extra money if they sell direct rather than through Amazon.

I have bought a number of the books and given them out, and the response is terrific! Most people really love the books. The books really help in the healing process as you begin to realize that you aren't stupid or evil for leaving. And that the organization is not worth fretting over.

By the way, the last set of books I ordered, I called the number of the Commentary Press and got to speak with both Brother and Sister Franz. I kept it short and just told them that they were loved and appreciated. I really mean that!

this is the third elder that tells me that the body of elders will recommend me as an elder in the next visit of the co.. what do you think i should do?

some facts:.

i am still 'in' because of my family.i am ms.i am doing 10+ fake hours (well, some months it is fake), so they see my "spiritual" progress.-ootb.

I was an elder for over 30 years, but I was a sincere hard-working one and I loved the brotherhood, and sadly, I believed it was God's Organization. Those are the only reasons I would ever have served.

There are enough people on the 'inside' that can get info to all of us while they are on their way out, without you putting yourself in such a dishonest situation. Don't do it for me.

Additionally, you think now that you might be able to help someone, with the inference being that you will help point out that the WT is a lie. Well, maybe, but I think people don't listen. They either believe or they don't. They either go for the reason they believe or for social and family reasons. You aren't Jesus Christ, and you aren't going to save anyone.

A fine example in leaving would be the best witness you could give, and you could unload all that dissonance.
