False assumptions and the lack of trust. It was as though they believed that everyone was chomping at the bit hoping to get away with something they shouldn't do and if it weren't for the tight reigns, all hell would break loose.
What about the people who actually wanted to try and do God's will without being falsed into it by rules and laws?

I was on fs with an older lady. I really respected her and thought she was very intelligent until one day when no one was answering the doors. She turned round and said, 'well they are obviously needing to work to pay for their mortgages', it was said in a condescening way as though these people were doing a bad thing.
I wish I had the guts to say 'yes and they are paying for your home too' (she lived in council accommodation).
I was well gobsmacked.
my daughter has been 'going out' with a black gentleman for the last year.
they are very much in love by the looks of things and have long term plans.. however, opposition has recently come from somewhere i did not expect.
it turns out that he has been very upset with his mother since she made several unpleasant remarks to him.

A promiscuous woman
i'm not criticizing anyone's decision to da themselves...just wondering what the advantages are.. if the whole da thing is something made up by the gb why make them happy by playing by their rules?
how are they hurt by your decision?
why not just walk away?
I didn't want to play by their rules either but I was getting harrassed with inane text messages and emails. They would never call the house phone in case my husband answered.
I got a new mobile and blocked their emails. Next came a letter through the door. It was from an elderly lady in my congregation, I didn't know her to speak to. She was famous for being the sister who gets beaten up by her u\b husband but still makes all the meetings and fs.
She told me that when receiving opposition from family members that I should trust in Jehovah and continue to attend meetings. I was furious. How dare they go to all that trouble and they weren't even correct. How dare they assume it was my husband's opposition that stopped me from going.
I was so angry, I wanted to write back and tell her what I thought but she hadn't left an address or any contact details. I thought that was so rude, especially being as I don't know how she got my address. All she said was she'll talk to me at the meetings!
I imagined them all milling around each other at the meetings, planning and handing out my details, gossiping about what they they think the reasons are, jumping to the wrong conclusions.
So thats why I da'd so they would just leave me alone. Sorry for ranting :)

it must be white smoke time shortly at brooklyn , following the death of 2 members in the last year.. by all accounts , there can only be 7 active members....... herd (71 years old) , jackson (51) , lett (57) , losch (63) , morris (56) , pierce (71) and splane (62).. the other 3 are all very aged.
barber (101) is confined to bed , jaracz is in his eighties and (allegedly) has heart trouble and a friend who met jack barr (now 93 years old) in the london bethel this year reckoned that this would be the last time he would be travelling over to the uk as he is very , very frail now.. with new, "grafted in" anointed ones very thin on the ground (and most regarded as certifiable by the r & f) , it is increasingly difficult for the gb to constantly appoint credible new members every few years.
for years now , the wts has increasingly been talking up the growing influence the non-anointed ones (nethinim , "chieftain class etc) are having in wts affairs - is it now the time for "new light"?

Lawrence - You may need the candles as after they let you in, you will be led down to the cellar where they keep the faithful and discreet slave. He is a big guy and quite unfortunate looking. He is very clumsy so they have had to chain him. Remember not to stare as he can't help it.
