Hi Jakes, Great title. I was thinking the other day how there needs to be more ex-witness books. I've read both of Ray Franz's and Diane Wilson's was another good one. One called 'In the Truth' by Paul McCool but that was fiction - still a good read though and typical of the witness behaviour. I haven't heard of any others so am really looking forward to yours. Thanks for writing it. Moomin

What face do the JW's make when they look at you?
by JH inalthough i'm not df'd, some won't look at me, but those that do, have a funny look that seems to say, too bad you wont make it in the new world.....

Hi Annie, Hopefully you will, that would be so funny. I imagine bumping into them and being all pleased to see them like nothing ever happened. If they ask why I left I would treat it like it was just a silly hobby that I got bored with and tell them I'm learning cookery instead.

Aposta-Library/Museum
by parakeet inin another thread truthseeker revealed that the wts is quietly gathering and burning as many of the old russell and rutherford books and magazines it can get its hands on in order to hide the hill of bones on which its present-day existence was built.
in addition to this effort to hide its sordid past, the wts also warns its followers to immediately dismiss apostate evidence derived from the internet.
i remember thirdwitness challenging posters to "produce" the letter that proved the wts was in cahoots with the u.n. it's so very convenient for jws to ignore "virtual" information because it's difficult to substantiate with original sources.

Hi Parakeet,
I think that would be a brilliant idea. Just like the witnesses have trouble convincing most householders that what they believe is true unless the person gave them loads of time, it is also just as difficult for ex-witnesses to quickly explain why it isn't true.
A place where no convincing is needed as the evidence speaks for itself would be perfect.
I would love to work there, would you? Sometimes I need to keep on checking that all the shocking stuff I found out is true :)

Hi Jakes,
I'm sorry you are feeling low today. I hope you feel better soon. I'm excited to hear about your book. What are you going to call it? I've often wondered if the hardest part of writing a book is thinking of a title.
Please let me know when its published as I would like to buy one. I bet it's brilliant as you write so fluently.
All the best.

Armageddon & end of World religions
by Moomin ini was just wondering that in the bible it states that at a time that you do not expect is the time that the end will come.
do you think that for as long as there are end of world religions then there will always be some expecting it at the correct time?
or maybe the religion or the belief that it is near will peter out due to the constant disapointments?

Hi SkyKing,
Thanks for your reply. Can you recommend any good books that you have read to help me understand how the bible was put together? I am currently reading 'The Making and Impact of the Bible' by Stephen Miller & Robert Huber. I haven't read a lot but don't seem to be getting much from it.
Since always believing that the Bible is God's word and that he would have made sure that it was correct (learnt from witnesses), I have lately been wondering about the evidence that suggests all is not right. It is very disconcerting and knocks me right out of my comfort zone but I would rather face the truth even if it isn't as nice as what I believed in.
Do you believe that Jesus' words are true in the Gospels? I think sometimes that if at least those are true then I can concentrate on them. I don't think I believe the story of Noah is literal anymore but my hubby says neither is the story of the good samaritan, its just there to learn from so it doesn't have to be real. It would be nice to know what is literal and what isn't, sometimes I don't know how we are expected to know either way.

To be honest, I do feel an intense dislike for certain ones at times. If I remember certain instances then I can become very angry and hateful but that's my problem that I'm trying to work on.
I only hurt myself by being like that after all and no I haven't worked out my ill will torward them. If I did then it would only feed my anger and cause myself more harm as you are so right about it being bad for your health.
There are some witnesses I knew that I liked so much and am so upset I will never see them again. I didn't know them very well but saw their behaviour and overheard a few comments. They really stood out as being non-judgemental and nowhere near self-righteous.
I guess the fact that this made them stand out meant that on the whole the witnesses don't usually own either of those qualities. I wish I told them how much I liked them and wanted to be like them as they weren't very popular and usually had an air of sadness.
I think my view of Jehovah's Witnesses in general is that I'm not really that keen on them.

I'm not sure but I think that there have been people believing the end will be in their lifetime for a few centuries now so maybe there always will be.
Do you think that that scripture would apply to every individual or to cetain groups of people?

Beards, when were they banned?
by GramblingMan ini know it has been talked about before, but does anyone have information as to when jw started banning beards.
my wife is telling me that it started in the 60/70's because of the hippies, but i know i read somewhere on here that it was much earlier.. .

I thought it was a recent thing. I only learnt about the ban on beards when I returned to the meetings in 05. When I was a teen there were men with beards in the cong. But then again that congregation was known as having problems.

Why was there a gun at the jw party and what happened to the boy who pulled the trigger? Is he in prison now?
