Ever BUILD a Kingdom Hall?

i was involved in several, starting when i was about 10 or 11 with jobs like sweeping up sawdust or picking up loose nails.

i loved it.

once, when i was about 22 we were building the kh south of santa barbara in carpinteria.

Worked on many years ago and had a funny time with one brother when we worked on country hall.

He towed his caravan to the site and we slept in it over the quick build weekend. On Saturday night we were in the van and both got our harmonicas out and played some tunes .

But when we played "When the saints come marching in" we got a knock on the door by Elder Righteous condemning us and saying we would have to move of the quick build site if we continued! He just left and we burst out laughing and the rest of the weekend he was like the Gestapo with us but we had fun!

Here's what I remember from being a baptised mormon ,

Missionaries were once only American men ,well educated

They encourage education

Tithe 10% ,when I was a kid mother was a mormon dad not, he had a strike at work for ages and we were literally eating donated dog bones from the butcher, no help from the church, but I remember standing next to Mother and two elders with an envelope asking for the 10% from her house keeping accrued since the strike started.

They molest kids just the same

All but one missionary who used to visit us retuned to the USA and became bi-sexual or homosexual

Negro people could not marry in the Temple ,or marry whites(looked down upon), had "the mark" so indeed were inferior to others

Baptise at age 8!

Males could do talks and sacraments at age 12

Only missionaries for 2 years then go back and get scholarships etc

60 minutes did a program on homosexual mormon men and the methods of ridding them by torture of their tendencies- attaching electric charging to their genitals whilst watching porno movies

Book of mormon-started history of writing about 600bc yet direct quotes from the King James bible are in it in the olde english which was only written 400 years ago !

I don't know whether they are REALLY that exceptional morally or INTELLECTUALLY

i think i posted this before.

two out of six of us were jw's in good standing so it'd be 'on topic' lol.. spill the beans skippy !

No unc it was a little more south ,and I think alot of them are still living down south ....such good little witnesses but they have had their share of broken marraiges etc over the years

I'll warm it up a bit......a certain sister years ago in her teenage years would drive around in cars with the other teenage bros & sis in Adelaide and stop at traffic lights ,the boys would jump out with baseball bats and smash the windscreens and people of cars behind them, jump back in the cars and drive off laughing .......now that's a good witness and they are still pretenders today.

A Pedophile in our local congo--WHAT SHALL I DO PUBLICALLY? mmmmm...

for some months we have known of a pedophile in our congo who molested his daughters years ago and we were told this by the pioneer sister who used to get a lift from him and his wife but won't now go with them .

we hav'nt been for some time but are having our own seperate issue over this type of problem and spoke to elders who we reqested to see for ages ,and they finally came around and i questioned them about this pedophile and the societies stance on this sought of thing, whether anything has changed in policy and of course it has'nt and i threw it at them that they have not warned the congo of his past conduct and he has been seen at the hall trying to hug kids and of course the brothers and sisters think he is just a jolly grandfather type !!!!!!!

of course most are ignorant of the real him and i pointed out also that we can't go to the hall to worship along a filthy scum like this.

It is comforting to know others are concerned about this and are doing something ,Im just need to hold back my anger and use my brain a bit more and be strategic.

Talked to my sister in law today and she is totally blinded, "Wait on Jehovah","why give up everlasting life" ....you know ,all the things you don't need to hear....."oh you are not the only one with problems" etc etc

But I did get some good points in she would'nt answer when trying to defend the society.........I love that letter to the English Elders from British Bethel that says it is OK to Have Pedophiles as elders and ministerial servants as long as bethel says its OK and a bit of time has passed. What can JW's say to that!!!

So far I think I'm getting through to some especially by saying my sources are not Apostate literature , so they can feel safe at looking at it.

Neverin.....I'm so sorry to hear of your loss ,and that is what it is, you've had stolen from you something precious ...your mind ,heart and dignity and had bad memories and fear put back in it's place. The terrible thing is the place where you should get peace and comfort is also stolen from you -the religious organisation. Like Lady lee I had been abused at that time , the 60's , and by both sexes ,the last time I was dumped in bushland at age 12. The severity of the crime is not minimised by the perp just putting his hand down the back of your pants, it is the legacy left in your life of pain that is what is important and how you find help to cope.

All people are different and cope differently with this tragedy but in the org there is little comfort and as many find there is more pain added by the denials, the hypocrisy ,the shunning when all is needed sometimes is just some one to listen and BELIEVE you. My wife was a JW kid and suffered years of filth by her Elder "father"

I'm sure this org will pay for it's deciet and Pharisee ways but in the meantime remember that this is a problem not exclusive to JW's for I was'nt one years ago I was a Mormon as a kid.

Warning others is what I guess we are empowered to do.
