Sisters should not engage in the displaying of flashy jewelry, and goodness! NO fishnet or patterned hose like a woman of ill repute might wear.

Made-Up Rules Dubs Try To Impose On Each Other
by calico inthis is in reference to the thread about dubs not having pets.
although, not a rule from the borg there are ones who would say you should not have pets.
can you think of other silly made-up rules that someone tried to impose on you?

Haha, Dune, I almost tore my surgical stitches laughing!
How about leaving a couple copies of Ms. Louderback-Wood's blood essay in the restrooms or the library too? And maybe some Silent Lamb's materials placed inside the pages of the bound volumes. How about some flyers with websites the curious can fold and put in their pocket or purse to look up at home?

Assembly comment anger
by 5thGeneration in.
said at our assembly that our research of the bible teaches us that jehovah is a "what have you done for me lately" god.. really nice!.
the society continues to make jehovah impossible to please.

Well, doesn't that sound a lot like Ba'al and the other false Gods condemned in the Bible? I don't remember all the details, but if they were angry, a burnt offering was needed to appease them, today!
Tomorrow some new offering had to be made, and so on. They were "what have you sacrificed to me today" Gods!

I thought today was a good day....
by collegegirl21 inso i wake up feeling alright, i have to unbraid my hair (which will take well into the night time) and so i come downstairs, turn on the computer and chat and unbraid my hair, thinking, this is a good day.
low and behold my mother comes down... "sh*****, i need the computer.
" "ok, mom..." i put an away message on my aim and then when she sits down, "i don't want you talking on that thing, jehovah wouldn't like that.

Hey, collegegirl!
I was the same age as you when it just got too strained to stand it another day at home. I got a minimum wage job and a small apartment and moved out! I already had a car but I had to make payments to my parents on it.
Some of it sounds like JW brainwashing has corroded your mom's brains, and some of it is, around your age, I think we've just worn out our welcome in their home, and it's time to move on. Only then will they recognize you as an adult and treat you with respect. My parents are my good friends now, but it took my leaving and them seeing me as an adult. I've been sucessful, and they grudgingly admire me for it, tho I'm a fader.
I think the clashes and my mom getting so obnoxious with me was to get me to move out. If you can't stand living with the rules of their home, it's time to make your own home. How close are you to finishing school? Can you make it a little longer, or no?
The military is a good career with benefits. My husband is retired military and gets a nice retirement check in addition to his paycheck...but that's after 20 years. Don't do a kneejerk reaction, because your mom pushed your buttons. Consider which course of action is best for you, in the long run. Remember, "she who laughs last", lol!

Re-instatement - How long ex - elders?
by CaptK ini am a white male and was d'fed in late 2000. i started attending the sunday talk and wt for the last two years.
my old congregation was merged into a new congregation following the years that i was gone (downsizing yes) with now all the elders are another race than myself.
i wrote a re-instatement letter in mid dec...which the elders never answered till mid jan... for a committee hearing.

Sorry, but if someone treated me that disrespectfully and unlovingly, I would NOT be kissing their butt and asking how I can be let back in for more! Do you think Jesus treated sincere people this way? I can see why they have downsized.

Householders are supposed to be impressed by the urgency of Jehoopla's life saving message... but instead, they think the Witlesses are a buncha flippin' looney tunes! with no common sense!

I adore http://zappos.com for shoes! They have 300 brands, and you can enlarge the shoes and rotate them to see all angles. They ship in like, 2 days, too! A ladies candy shop!

Mom and I wore long johns under our skirts and thick tights over those. It took so long to put on all those layers on a Saturday morning. We wore wool socks inside our boots, which were flat heeled and frumpy so we woulldn't slip on the ice. Our cargroup would pull up to a house and one of us would run to the door. Few wanted to open the door and let the heat out, and by the looks on the faces peeking thru the curtains, they were thinking, if we were too dumb to dress right, we didn't have anything they wanted anyhow. We'd run back to the car, and drive up to the next door. The person who had warmed up the most had to get out again, and so on. -

"Make use of a portable typewriter"...!? You can tell somebody very old and very out of touch with the modern world wrote this article. Hello! Nobody uses a typewriter any more! Some little 85 year old man in the writing department probably pencil whipped this fluff article to make a deadline, but imagine how much harm it could do when Witless parents apply this
baloneyloving counsel to their unfortunate kids. -

The supervisors I work with who are the least successful, are the ones who try to be the employees' friend. Friendly is fine, up to a point because it makes a better atmosphere to work in. And people do give more discretionary effort when they are happier with their workplace environment. But, the bottom line is, we are here to run a business!
