I made it to three minutes before I bailed. What's going on with him, I wonder. He's almost mumbling, as if extremely tired or ill. Maybe he's exasperated with having to explain his point to the riff raff. They should just do as they're told. Send in the donations, do as we say, and we'll all get along fine! -

Blondie, I remember Rueben Cobos from northwest Indiana in the 70's! Our district included south suburban Chicago. We used the ass-embly hall on 79th & Ashland Ave, a very bad area. Small world.
Anyway, lucky me received a trip to Bethel when I was about 16 years old. Evidently my lukewarm attitude at the Hall indicated the trip to Mecca might spark enthusiasm in me. My aunt and uncle took me. TG they were bubbley, sociable folks who were more into eating out and shopping. Unfortunately, I was bored out of my mind with the Watchtower buildings, but the tour of the Bowery and NYC sights was interesting.

New BBC article on JW abuse
by snare&racket inis religion doing enough to root out abuse?.
he would go upstairs, on the premise that he was saying a prayer with his niece, then sexually abuse her.
mark sewell was sentenced to 14 years in prisonafterwards, the elders told her that as it was only her account against that of sewell, nothing more could be done.

Good Lord, they are full of excuses for not doing anything! Even where multiple children are molested by the same "brother", they find reasons to discount the statements. If 100 kids were assaulted, but they didn't see it happening to the other 99, then there weren't two witnesses, so nothing happened!
What will it take to make the Old Gibbering Buzzards care?

Such petty, mean spirited, vicious beotches! They were assuming the worst and couldn't wait to spread the news. Real nice. If they thought your husband was doing something improper, they should've put themselves in your shoes and handled it with kindness, or better yet, minded their business. Why couldn't it occur to them that he was having a meeting over lunch, and others were joining them? It's always Oh My God, look! with these gossip queens.
They sure aren't true friends. I wouldn't give them the time of day.

Elders who dislike other congregation elders
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy congregation had four elders who had different personalities.you would see a little friction among themselves.. #1 self-righteous and the 800 pound gorilla.he would push everyone around in the congregation and even some fellow elders.. # 2 elder was around 80 years old and looked like he stuck around a little too long.it looked like he was around because he never decided to give up the position.his duty became very light as he aged.. # 3 elder was in his early 30's and newly elected.he made no waves and whatever was asked of him in the congregation he would do.easy to push around like a little puppy dog.. #4 elder (who everyone liked ) was easy to get along with and had a family who everyone loved.
he didn't like elder # 1. they had a power struggle amongst each other which everyone observed while the meetings were in session.. here are 2 small verbal fights that i observed while the congregation meetings were in session:.
while elder # 1 was giving a talk ( heavy rain storms are brewing outside with loud thunder and lightning ) the microphones and lights are knocked out.we lost all power and could barely see.

When I was growing up, my dad had an especial feud with another elder, kind of a rivalry. They both drew their own following in the congregation. Everyone saw it. The factions clustered after the meetings to chat, but avoided one another. I remember a vote about purchasing new carpet, when somehow it came out that elder TH has already picked out the carpet color and pile, and brought it prior to the vote! A disgruntled brother called out, "Then, why are we even voting, if you already bought it? That was an ugly evening.
The rift extended to elder TH's wife, when she played the piano. They used to bang out the songs on the Hall's piano. My mom, an elderette, would kick my dad and snicker about how badly elderette AH was missing the keys. My dad's faction wouldn't sing. The same thing would happen when my mom played.
The elders were mortified when their daughters (me and little sister SH) became best friends. That was awkward.
Then there was the jockeying to take the CO out to dinner first, and the meanness around that. Each elder would look for an opening to tell the CO negative things about the others. There was constantly drama, plotting and hurt feelings.
That was a huge factor in me seeing it wasn't the truth. Children see through petty, spiteful, un Christian behavior like that.

Changes to reporting
by Formerbrother inso it seems placing literature is not so important anymore, now that we live in a digital age.. we are being pushed to show videos instead.
this is the new reporting from next month, just hrs and any literature placed in one box and then how many videos you showed in another box.. bib changes for sure..

Unable to afford a tablet, unable to afford a data plan, unable to fit in with the whirring wheels of the big Chariot- do the poor elderly just accompany the tablet owners, standing there helplessly for moral support? They must feel like two cents! -

My mom's almost eighty one. She grudgingly bought a tablet to watch the Gibbering Buddies' videos, but got frustrated and got rid of her wifi at her tiny section 8 apartment. It's just not something she has the extra money for. She's a widow on social security. She is disgruntled that the sisters have to come over and play the talks for her on their tablets, but not bitter enough yet to stop door knocking. She's bothered by the heavy emphasis on the internet, but can't work out what's wrong with the direction the org's going in. I feel bad for her, because she thinks it's her fault she has trouble keeping abreast.
They have to know how confusing the elderly find the changes and the push to use technology they don't understand. Mom's on her own since my dad passed, and the feeling of being worthless is making her more depressed. They really burn my butt!

State lawsuit against Jehovah's Witnesses
by Coded Logic inthe first of many lawsuits?.
(edited).
november 09, 2015. wilmington, delaware the attorney general's office is suing elders of the sussex county congregation for not reporting an unlawful sexual relationship between a woman and a 14-year-old boy, both of whom were congregation members.. state law requires any person, agency, organization or entity who knows or in good faith suspects that a child is being abused or neglected to call a 24-hour hotline.

Bottom line is, once again they're trying to circumvent the justice system by playing games. They're not being transparent and sincere, or acting to swiftly correct the problem; they're playing with definitions and latching on to a policy the Catholic church has fought for and done the work for. Now the Gibbering legal department wants to get on board and have JW'S considered clergy if it suits their needs. Any other time, they'd be horrified to fall under the clergy umbrella.
Instead of all the shiftiness and twisting words in court, why wouldn't God's true religion have a burning desire to root out the rotten apples without further delay and dancing around the issue?

Pistorius charge changed to murder
by Tornintwo injust read on sky news that pistorius' charge has been changed to murder by the appeals court, on the basis that: .
"pistorius must have foreseen that firing into the toilet would likely have killed whoever was inside - but he went ahead anyway".
quite right too imo, he should go back to prison now.

I'm so glad to hear it. I read that while he was on house arrest, he had buddies over to party and they showed a picture of him grinning and holding a can of beer. Disgusting. Wonder if he's grinning now. -

So maybe they're scrambling to stuff those "volunteers" in the newly constructed housing, so they can claim they're providing free room and board to unpaid ministers and missionaries. See, they really are a charity, even the tax man will recognize that, right? They can appear warm and fuzzy and caring until the coast is clear, then move on with their original plans, whatever that is.
