I was always getting counseled by my elder father for making faces at the Hall, and for "rolling my eyes." Once, he warned me, "If you don't adjust your attitude, you'll never get a husband!" I retorted, "Good! I don't want one anyway!"

The WT is again reminding women of their "proper role"
by mjarka911 inthe 3/1/06 wt questions from readers is discussing 1 cor 14:33,34 and explains the phrase "keep silent".
after the usual claptrap and disclaimers (like how sometimes women have to substitute for baptized men in a congregation setting) - it concluded by saying women keep silent by "not raising argumentative questions that could challenge the authority of those who teach.
" how do the women swallow this stuff and still feel grateful for "rich spiritual food"?

I've seen them twice in the 3 years we've been at our current house. We both work full time, so it's possible they are coming to work the neighborhood more than I know, but if the've been by, wouldn't they be leaving something in the door? We live in a nice, middle class neighborhood with plenty of parking. We used to always leave a tract or an old Asleep or Witchtower if there was a secure place for it.

WT AND "DOOR TO DOOR" PREACHING
by Mary ini just found a real little gem in the wt's 2004 cd-rom.
while looking at acts 20:20 it says:
while i did not hold back from telling you any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching you publicly and from house to house*.

This is a real eye opener! And it makes me angry that the Governing Shoddy actually knows that my elderly parents don't really have to go from door to door in the ice and snow, risking falling! Instead, they could have a small group, or church, in the comfort of their home for Bible study! That'd take a lot of pressure off of them, but I doubt many of them will catch this footnote.

I look forward to Blondie's posts! My parents are still in and it helps me feel a little bit comforted to know what they are hearing every week. It's not good, and I don't like the material they are being fed, but at least I know what's going on with them. Also, it makes me that much more sure I did the right thing by getting out. I know it's not the truth Thank You, Blondie!.

How aliens are seizing control of Earth (Meol'gadik)
by Franz inif you sit back and analyze how things are run, one thing is evident: that power on earth is in the hands of a nefarious few and they are not human.
humans are controlled.
unless you are a believer and follower of the most high with your eyes opened as to what's going on, then you are most likely being manipulated or controlled by them in one way or another.

Parent-Teacher Night in DUB land: Are you guilty of embaressing your kid?
by stillAwitness in.
i remember my mother making sure she showed up to parent-teacher night with the dub brochure on education in one hand and the latest issue of the wt/awake in another.. she always made sure she mentioned to my teachers that "my daughter is one of jehovah's wittneses.
forget not being allowed to stay in the class while they passed out birthday cake and played christmas games-i was even pulled out of the class during sex-ed my first year of middle school!

My parents wouldn't grace parent-teacher nights with their presence. They were usually on meeting nights anyways, and which was more important? But my dad always made a big production of coming to my class and marching me out to travel to assemblies. He 'd leave work early and take me out of school. It was SO embarassing! Then we'd go out to the waiting Chrysler Clunker to join Mom for our exciting roadtrip to the ASSembly while the junior high kids watched out the window. Those were "Southwest" moments, like in the comercials, where you wish you could fly away, quick!

Disposable People
by MerryMagdalene insince my mom decided she needed to put full shunning back into effect again (an unconscious new year's resolution to be a better jw?
), i've been ransacked by a whole bunch of emotions which have been gradually resolving into thoughts.
the sense of being completely disposable, expendable, replaceable.

It was right on for mine! My appraisal for refinancing is only 4 months old, so it's very close to what the appraisal came in at, cool!
