At our Hall was an obnoxious elder who one day decided to order new wal to wall carpeting for the Kinkdum Hall. He forgot to have a vote on it at the Service Bleeting. The carpet was delivered and put in storage. On the night Brother Sweatingbullets read the resolution, to order new carpet, his forehead was all beads of sweat. The other elders were pissed at him because he and his wife had even selected the color and pile THEY liked best without putting it up for congregation vote. Well, he got a "yes" vote to order carpet, which he had already purchased, and nobody questioned how it arrived so fast! As to the color, well, it was on sale and was the best deal to be found. Jeez, the sleeze!

Witness Paranoia, and former Witness Paranoia
by free2beme inwhen i was a witness, i once had a elder tell me that he was positive the fbi was tracking witness activity.
even saying that he would not fill out anything that stated his religion on official, or even unofficial documents that were not from the society, as he felt this was a tool to track witnesses.
i remember once in a talk, it was mentioned that witnesses are not free from government tracking and that we should expect this.

My elder at work is always very sensitive to acts of persecution against him as a Witless. For example, he got a letter of warning yesterday for making a pretty big mistake, so this was proof nobody likes Witlesses. His customers have called in complaints on him; just shows they pick on him because he's a servant of Jepooper. That women are the weaker vessel and must be in subjection to their husbands. (Yes, I am a feminist!) And this one always got my goat...sisters donning a hankerchief from their purse or a McDonalds napkin, when no brothers were present to pray before field service, or begging a 12 year old boy-child to say the prayer for them. my social circle went from literally hundreds down to about 5 or 6.. so no guilt at all--i'm glad to to be here and am grateful to everyone of you!

This is my social life, mostly. My former friends at work have cooled off since I went into management. Also, my husband is asleep when I come home from the night shift, so I enjoy catching up on the day's posts late at night. It's great to gently heal from childhood memories with you all. And I love reading about other countries, especially New Zealand, Australia, the UK and Canada. It's a great way to learn about other cultures! Keeping up on the Witchtower scandals is fun too, and poking fun takes away our fear of them.

It has to be, cuz tho I haven't attended in twenty years, I can tell from what I read on this board it's the same recycled sewage it was twenty years ago. As a kid, the only actual excitement came when someone's disfellowshipping announcement was read (gasp!) Yeah, that's sick, isn't it? I always knew it was coming, cuz my dad had gone out one evening earlier in the week to a comittee meeting, and an announcement was usually sure to follow. I made sure to wake up to hear who it was about. Sad that a scandal or some poor miserable soul's announcement was the only break in the boreing droning on and on.

had an awesome time great weather really hot, drank lots of cocktails, went snorkelling in the middle of the ocean saw a little shark and some awesome fish.
got dropped off in the middle of the ocean on a sand dune (see pic).

by ballistic ina weird thing happened tonight.
i turned round in a bar and there was a girl coming the other way towards me.. so i said "oh i'm sorry", politely because i was in her way.. and she said to me "yeah, so you should be".. if a man had said that to me with the same snarled up look on his face i would have most certainly punched him,.
but i didn't, i just carried on past.. then i thought, how rude that was.

Our meetings were cancelled a few times where I grew up, south of Chicago. The lake effect blizzards were blinding to drive in, and we could get several inches in a few hours time. There were just as many times when they should've been cancelled, and weren't! This led to many going out on unsafe roads and in poor conditions.On those nights, hardly anybody else showed up, and the meeting was cut short. Whee-hoo!

Lazy Witnesses
by ellderwho inmy son was leaving the house saturday morning around 8:00 am, the lazy dub could not muster up the strength to get out from behind the wheel of her dub carrying minivan to pawn off the tower rag.
as my son walked to his car, dub lady is waving the tower rag as if " come over here and get this rag so i can count this as time.".
