Every letter carrier working for the US Postal Service is required by law to make, or attempt to make, all deliveries on the route. Deliberately with holding or non delivery of mail is a removable offense, especially when the Postal Inspectors film it. Our elder at work really whines when a full coverage for New Life Church comes out addressed to "Current Resident" but he also knows it will be his job if he doesn't take them out. If there was a porn shop or some objectionable business along his route, he would probably be accomodated by the Post Office moving the mailbox outside on a post so he (or any carrier with religious objections) wasn't forced to go inside and place the mail on the counter. Every new career employee also swears loyalty to the government at their appointment ceremony, so I am puzzled why it's OK to work for the Post Office?

May a JW mail carrier deliver mail to a church?
by Bonnie_Clyde inwe've already discussed the 3-15-06 wt about a self-employed contractor not being able to paint one of the churches of christendom.
well read on.
paragraph 13 asks, "what about performing a legitimate service, such as delivering mail everywhere in a community, including places that promote wrong practices?

My mom used to choke if she heard the word "gay" or "lesbian." For example, her cousin J. was, "you know, harummpph, THAT WAY, a whatchacallit, uh, bad girl." She got her bra in a knot when I'd say, "Mom, she's a lesbian. Get over it!"

It's ball-shattering cold outside!
by Nosferatu init's -35 degrees celcius here.
with the windchill, it's -45 (that's -49 farenheit for those in the us).
had to let the truck warm up for a good 10 minutes today, and it was solid as a rock (yes, it was plugged in).

That's funny, Mouthy! I thought we invented the witch where I grew up, south of Chicago. The wind off Lake Michigan was "colder than a witches bippy!" Now I see she goes to Canada and Washington state, too!

Jambons story - 10 yrs in the truth
by jambon1 ini had lots of questions at 17 yrs old.
i had a lot of respect for the bible having been told it was sacred and holy.
i was brought up in an atheist household but through circumstances found myself studying at age 17. the common sense of it all (it looks that way at 17) appealed to me and before long i wholeheartedy embraced the faith.

A 1975 story
by TooBad TooSad inwhile i was in high school in the mid 60's i was told that the end was so near that i would not get to graduate from high school so i should not be concerned about being drafted due to the war in vietnam.
well i got drafted but did not pass my physical due to a medical problem.. i then considered go to school in the late 60's to enter the medical field.
i was encouraged by the elders not to do this because the end is so near and why get schooling for a profession that you will not need in a few years?

garybuss, how absolutely wicked of them, to say you didn't hear it from them! I used to hold my breath, when they were pushing hard from the platform for brothers to quit their jobs and pioneer in the short time remaining till the end. I think the only thing that held my parents back, was I was too young to quit school for them to go on the road pioneering. But lots of kids from the Hall did quit school when they turned 16, to preach the "urgent, life saving message" before it was too late. I wonder how they are supporting families now, to include their elderly parents? I was luckier than many, I wasn't forced to leave school and Dad didn't quit his good job.
