I love the spring smell in the mountain air, and it rained a couple days ago. Then, true to springtime here, the rain turned to hail. The air smelled fresh and pine-y.
"My" yellow canaries are back!
this morning i saw my first robin of spring - always a nice sight here in northern wisconsin.
there were also lots of newly arrived redwing blackbirds singing happily - after their winter absence the sounds of their calls was so refreshing to hear.
one of my favorite signs of spring, believe it or not, is a faint scent of skunk smell in the air.

it's hard to know where to begin, so i'll just... begin.. i had my first encounter with jw in high school when my now ex-husband moved into our small town.
(you're doing the math already, aren't ya?
:) ) after finding out he was a jw, i did a little bit of reading into it, which he discouraged... told me that that stuff is "apostate" (i had no idea what that meant) and that he'd give me stuff to read.
Rachel, welcome! You are very strong to walk away from the baloney and live your life!
Many here have had similar stories with the unloving treatment received from the JW's and can understand totally.
Several have children and can share what has helped them explain it all to them. Stick around, it's so healing to share and be understood!
hi gang,.
i'm new to the board and i wanted to say hello.
my name is shannon, i'm from upstate new york.
Welcome, Shannon! So nice to read your story. You are very brave! Whatever became of the pompous "head of the house?"
i was listening to a testimonial by valerie acuff and she said that she was sitting in an assembly, looking around at the crowd and thinking to herself, "this is your family, these are your people.".
she said at that moment she heard a voice inside say, "these are not your people, this is not your family, get up and leave now, and don't ever go back.
" so she took her two children at that very moment and left, and she never went back.
I think I always knew! When we hurt my widowed Grandfather every time we let him sit in his house alone on the holidays, I knew this wasn't a loving religion.
Every time I listened to my elder dad talk about the latest backstabbing and politics games amongst the elders, especially when the CO came, I knew this wasn't the true religion.
The gossiping and unkindness in the Hall turned my stomach. Literally. I had an ulcer at 16 years of age.
After I moved into my first apartment, I drove to the Hall for the Serv-ass meeting. I missed the left turn from the highway into the parking lot. I turned around to try again and thought about...
The nasty smirking elderettes waiting inside to smother me in phony concern and caring. ("Oh, look who's here! How's your dad? We miss him!") Their husbands feuded with my father when he was PO and it got so bad he transferred us to another Hall. The cold, unloving atmosphere of the congregation. I thought, nobody's going to talk to me anyway, and I'm going to run out right after the meeting to avoid these people, so why am I even going in there, in the first place?
I missed the turn again, and never went back. I knew then I would never go back and it felt so good.
this is in reference to the thread about dubs not having pets.
although, not a rule from the borg there are ones who would say you should not have pets.
can you think of other silly made-up rules that someone tried to impose on you?
Well, let's put it this way...anything that was a cute new style, or remotely just fun to wear, or any pretty and harmless jewelry, must be squashed like a junebug!
Where is it forbidden in the Bible? Nowhere, but if an elder or worse yet, an elderette, ran their eye over you, and declared you immodest, that was it!
Virgogirl, of the Was Always Bummed Out Class, because she liked new spring clothes!
yep- my favorite sister when i was growing up is still one of them.
even though all of her family has found out the truth.
we all have tried our best to help her see it's not the truth...but,she brushes everything off and says oh well.
They like to explain, "Well, there are always a few bad apples, but Jehover will weed them out!" Then they stagger off with the deer in the headlights look, and forget all about it.
hey, everyone ---.
gumby suggested that i start a new thread with this information.. we can send e-greetings to ian while he is in the hospital.
volunteers at the christie hospital will print and deliver our greetings from 9-5 from m-f. so let's surprise ian (and the hospital volunteers!
That was so easy! It only took a few seconds to send it off. I hope we don't overwhelm the volunteers, lol.
Every hospital should do this, imagine the smiles it will bring!
did you ever find yourself in extreme weather conditions extreme cold, heat, winds, rain etc .
.
i was once caught out driving during a hurricane, some things were flying around but fortunately i survived.
Tornado season in the midwestern USA was scary sometimes, hiding in the basement till the all clear whistle blew.
Scariest of all were the icy roads and blinding snowstorms that Jehoopla's true worshippers took their children out driving in. It's a miracle we didn't go off the road more on those dark nights coming home from late meetings.

Morwen, just curious...
Is the poor infant given anything at all for the pain, or do they just do it to him while he wails?
special talk - is god still in control?
does anyone have an effective illustration or experience for this talk?
regards ajayboy
God/Jesus is in control, but I can't vouch for the WTBTS or the Goobering Body. Looks like their train's going off the tracks.
